摘要： An image display device capable of supporting brightness enhancement and power control and a method thereof, in which the brightness and contrast are enhanced and the power of a light source is controlled in accordance with the image characteristic. In the image display method, a parameter representative of an input image is calculated from a histogram of the input image, a model corresponding to the input image is selected from a plurality of representative models by analyzing the parameter, and then a brightness controlling function matched with the selected model is selected. The size of each component of a pixel constituting the input image is controlled using the brightness controlling function, and the output image of the pixel whose component size has been controlled is displayed.

The image display device includes a histogram analysis unit calculating a parameter representative of an input image on the basis of a histogram of the input image, a model selection unit analyzing the parameter and selecting a representative model including the input image among a plurality of representative models, a luminance reduction amount calculation unit calculating a luminance reduction amount for each color light source of the input image on the basis of a maximum luminance reduction rate corresponding to the selected model, a power reduction amount calculation unit calculating a power reduction amount for each color light source according to the luminance reduction amount on the basis of a power characteristic of each color light source, and a power control unit supplying power reduced by the power reduction amount to each color light source.

摘要： An apparatus and method are provided for correcting a color reproduced by a video device according to peripheral brightness so that the visibility of the video device is guaranteed under peripheral conditions brighter than the video device. The apparatus for correcting a color reproduced by a video device according to peripheral brightness includes: a lookup-table-creation unit which creates a lookup table based on saturation of the video device and brightness of peripheral conditions; a color-correction unit which corrects the color reproduced by the video device according to the created lookup table; and a color-error-compensation unit which compensates for color error resulting from correction of the color.
