摘要: In a vehicle power steering device, a motor is turned on to rotate in one direction whether a steering wheel is turned clockwise or counterclockwise. A switching mechanism is interposed between a motor armature shaft and an output shaft to change directions of the output shaft rotation relative to the armature shaft rotation in response to turning direction of the steering wheel. The switching mechanism may include electrically controlled coupling/releasing members or mechanically controlled rotation reversing and coupling mechanisms.

摘要: In a starter, a power supply terminal connected to a solenoid coil of a magnet switch and connectable to a starter external circuit is provided on an end cover. The power supply terminal includes a terminal metal member, a bimetal which interrupts electric conduction between the solenoid coil and the terminal metal member at the time of temperature rise above a predetermined temperature, and a casing contacting a foot part of the terminal metal member and encasing the bimetal therein. The bimetal responds to each of the excessive heating of the terminal metal member and excessive energization current to interrupt the conduction. In case of a single axis-type starter, the power supply terminal is provided on a recess so that the terminal metal member does not extend axially beyond the rear end face of the end cover.

摘要: In a magnet switch, when an exciting coil is turned on to generate magnetic force, a plunger is moved by the magnetic force so that a movable contact contacts a fixed contact. The fixed contact includes an elastically deformable, flat plate-like elastic deformable portion having a contact portion which is contacted by the movable contact and a terminal bolt connected to a battery. When the movable contact contacts the contact portion of the fixed contact, the elastically deformable portion is elastically deformed by the collision force to absorb collision force, thereby preventing the bouncing of the movable contact.

摘要: A rotor 2 has a rotary shaft 20. A drive shaft 7 is provided around an outer periphery of rotary shaft 20 and is rotatably supported on a housing. Drive shaft 7 has the same axial center as rotary shaft 20, and has a pinion gear 7b meshing with a ring gear 8 of an engine. A speed-reduction mechanism 4 includes a sun gear 2b provided on rotary shaft 20, a planetary gear 4b meshing with sun gear 2b, and an internal gear 4a meshing with planetary gear 4b. A reduction shaft 5 receives a rotational torque transmitted from rotor 2 through speed-reduction mechanism 4. A first one-way clutch 6b is interposed between reduction shaft 5 and drive shaft 7 for connecting reduction shaft 5 to drive shaft 7 only when any rotational torque is transmitted from reduction shaft 5 to drive shaft 7. A second one-way clutch 6a is interposed between drive shaft 7 and rotary shaft 20 for connecting drive shaft 7 to rotary shaft 20 only when any rotational torque is transmitted, from drive shaft 7 to rotary shaft 20. In a start-up operation of the engine, rotation of rotor 2 is reduced through speed-reduction mechanism 4 and is transmitted through reduction shaft 5, first one-way clutch 6b and drive shaft 7 to ring gear 8 to drive the engine. After succeeding the start-up operation, rotation of ring gear 8 is transmitted through drive shaft 7 and second one-way clutch 6a to rotary shaft 20 of rotor 2 to generate electric power.

摘要: Around the outer circumference of an armature core 520, there are arranged a stator core 558 and a stator coil 559 wound on the stator core 558, forming a fixed magnetic field device. The stator coil 559 has its one end portion arranged in the space at the outer circumference of a planetary gear speed reduction mechanism 300, i.e., at the outer circumference of a center bracket 360. A motor partition 800 is formed with a stepped portion 810 so as to accommodate the aforementioned one end portion. On the other hand, the other end of the stator coil 559 is arranged in the space at the outer circumference of a brush 910. In short, the planetary gear speed reduction mechanism 300 has its external diameter made smaller than the inner circumferential diameter of the stator coil 559.

摘要: An attracting coil is directly wound on a non-magnetic heat-conductive sleeve and a plunger contacts the sleeve in a starter. An influence of heat generated through current flow to a motor and heat generated at the attracting coil through current flow to the attracting coil itself are transmitted and released from the attracting coil directly to the plunger. Therefore, decline of the attracting force of the attracting coil is prevented. A magnet switch is provided in the vicinity of the opposite end of a pinion of the motor. Thus, when the starter is mounted on an engine, the starter does not interfere with the engine and the mounting work is facilitated.

摘要: In a starter motor for a starter, a plurality of permanent magnets are arranged circumferentially inside a cylindrical yoke and outside an armature. A cylindrical sleeve is fitted with the permanent magnets to radially outwardly fix the permanent magnets to the yoke. A discharge hole for discharging a cooling air from the inside to the outside of the motor is formed on the bottom of the yoke at a position between the adjacent two of the permanent magnets. The sleeve restricts the splash water from entering directly inside the motor through the discharge hole.

摘要: Disclosed is a starter which is simplified in the structure of its pinion rotation regulating mechanism and is down-sized in its entire structure. A pinion regulating member abuts with a pinion and moves the pinion towards a ring gear by the rotation of an output shaft, while preventing rotation of the pinion. When the pinion abuts with the ring gear, the pinion regulating member bends and gradually rotates the pinion to mesh with the ring gear. By this arrangement and operation, generation of abrasion powder is reduced with reduced number of component parts.

摘要: A starter having a highly reliable overrunning clutch which has grooves on both a clutch member inner and a clutch outer member. Rollers are sandwiched from the front and rear torque conveyance direction by the roller contact surface of each groove, so a large stress such as with the roller-type overrunning clutch using the wedge-effect is not applied on each contact surface and roller contact surface. This reduces the inertia of the clutch, and suppresses the impact force generated when a pinion engages an engine ring gear.

摘要: A starter which assuredly and simply sealed an outer circumference of one engagement portion between a housing and a yoke or the other engagement portion between the yoke and an end frame with a band-shaped seal member. The banded-shaped seal member covers each engagement portion of the yoke, a center plate, the housing, a brush holder, and the end frame. The seal member has a clearance which is placed to correspond to a notched ventilation hole so that the yoke can be opened in the direction of the starter bottom or the ground.
