摘要： An imaging module for imaging, and a reader for and a method of electro-optically reading, a target, include an aiming assembly having an aiming laser for generating an aiming laser beam, an aiming element for collimating the laser beam, and a pattern-generating element for optically modifying the collimated laser beam to generate a visible aiming light pattern on the target, and an illuminating assembly having an illuminating light source for generating illumination light, and an illuminating element for uniformly illuminating the target with the illumination light. A solid-state imager has an array of image sensors for capturing return illumination light from the target. The pattern-generating element is molded of a one-piece construction with at least one of the aiming and illuminating elements.

摘要： A method and apparatus are provided to modulate a beam of laser light. An acousto-optic modulator (AOM) is positioned to receive continuous-wave (CW) laser light at an angle approximating the Bragg angle. Fine tuning of the modulation is then used to compensate for any variations in the actual angle from the Bragg angle. A photodiode provides a feedback signal that may be used to tune or adjust the operation of the AOM. The photodiode is positioned to receive laser light at the first order diffraction and provide a signal indicative of the magnitude of the first order diffraction laser light produced by the AOM. The photodiode signal is coupled to an RF frequency generator so that the RF frequency may be adjusted to vary the acoustic wave in the AOM to compensate for any variations in the Bragg angle.

摘要： A hand-held bar code reader, in particular a bar code wand is used by a consumer to read bar code information accompanying a product displayed at a retail outlet. The bar code information can be presented in, for example, UPC format and carries information relating to the products. The consumer subsequently down-loads information stored in the reader via a suitable interface to a personal computer which accesses information identified by a address included in or comprising the bar code information. The site contains additional information such as price information concerning the advertised product and the consumer may be able to pay for and order the product directly via the site. As a result the consumer has a simple reminder of the product, is able to obtain additional information concerning the product with minimum difficulty and can obtain the product itself with maximum ease.
