Abstract: Catadioptric projection systems, devices and methods, including a lens, an illumination source and a reflector, arranged to pass light through a medium and focus the light onto a surface, with a vibration source disposed proximate the medium to impart frequencies on the medium to effect movement of the medium, which may be oscillations, patterns or other movements. The vibration source may be a transducer, audio speaker. The illumination source includes one or more illuminators that may be configured as one or more LEDs, and passes through the lens and provides illumination from one side of the lens, to direct the illumination of projected light through the medium and onto the reflector surface, where the light is reflected off of the mirror surface and back through the medium, through the lens, and focused onto a surface. The device is configured with control circuitry for operating the transducer and LEDs.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for bonding a plurality of transducers to an optical element by placing each transducer on a moveable pedestal mounted on a piston; temporarily securing each transducer to the moveable pedestal; applying an epoxy to a plurality of steps on a deflector surface; placing the piston with the transducers over the plurality of steps; actuating the piston and moving each moveable pedestal to contact the transducer with the epoxy; releasing the transducer from the moveable pedestal; and curing the epoxy to secure the transducer to the steps.

Abstract: An acousto-optic modulator system for protecting a photoreceptor from an incident laser beam from a laser source includes a transducer array that is connected to a glass portion. The glass portion is arranged in a predicted path of the laser beam between the laser source and the photoreceptor. An electronic control unit (“ECU”) selectively energizes the transducer array and causes the transducer array to emit sound pressure waves into the glass portion. The sound pressure waves have predetermined oscillation characteristics that change a refractive index of the glass portion to diffract the beam. A camera system includes the transducer array, the ECU, and a camera having an image sensor and an external lens positioned in the predicted path. A host aircraft includes the photoreceptor, fuselage, one or more wings, the glass portion, the transducer array, and the ECU.

Abstract: A method may include generating a laser light beam with a laser source, splitting the laser light beam into a first front side beam and a back side beam for a back side of an ion trap using a first beamsplitter, directing the front side beam to a second beamsplitter using an input telescope, and splitting the first front side beam into a plurality of second front side beams directed to a common acousto-optic medium using a second beamsplitter. The common acousto-optic medium may have a respective plurality of electrodes coupled to the common acousto-optic medium for each of the second front side beams. The method may further include directing the plurality of second front side beams to a front side of the ion trap using an output telescope, and generating a respective RF drive signal for each of the plurality of electrodes using a plurality of RF drivers.
