摘要: Methods and systems provide for sharing information between computer networks in which the information to be shared is required at one location (e.g. for the provision of a data-processing service) but is only available at a separate location. The information may be deliberately absent (e.g. for privacy reasons) or may be unavailable as an artifact of the computer network(s) involved. For the provision of a data-processing service, where several different devices on one network may service contiguous requests from a client device on another network according to a load-balancing strategy, data is propagated once only through the service network. Network communication software is subsequently amended to provide the minimal information necessary for a device on the service network to retrieve the information pertinent to the client device and necessary for its service. Therefore, a web-based single sign-on scheme can operate over HTTP to authorize data-processing services, such as web-filtering services.

摘要: A file system determines the relative vacancy of a collection of storage blocks, i.e., an “allocation area”. This is accomplished by recording an array of numbers, each of which describes the vacancy of a collection of storage blocks. The file system examines these numbers when attempting to record file blocks in relatively contiguous areas on a storage medium, such as a disk. When a request to write to disk occurs, the system determines the average vacancy of all of the allocation areas and queries the allocation areas for individual vacancy rates. The system preferably writes file blocks to the allocation areas that are above a threshold related to the average storage block vacancy of the file system.

摘要: File system is capable of performing long operations, such as deletions and truncations of long files, in a deterministic and atomic manner with regard to its recorded consistency points. The system includes both live filespace accessible to users, and user-inaccessible zombie filespace. In representative embodiments, the system includes a file deletion manager and a truncation manager capable of operating on files in the zombie filespace. Changes to the zombie filespace can be recorded in persistent memory. After a power failure or a similar event, the system can use the recorded changes to replay operations on the files in the zombie filespace, facilitating recovery. Zombie space can be sized dynamically, enabling the deletion manager to request enlargement of the zombie filespace. In some embodiments, files are transferred to the zombie filespace before links to the files' blocks in the live filespace are broken, and before performing operations on the files.

摘要: Real time purification of contaminated common air is an unsolved public health problem inside residences and the workplace, and outside from air pollution by industry and transportation. Currently popular consumer grade electrostatic air filters accumulate suspended contaminants onto accumulation plates which require subsequent disposal or cleaning of the highly concentrated contaminates, a maintenance requirement that presents a new consumer health risk. Disclosed is a technology with several embodiments that structurally sequester and eradicate suspended particulates by electrostatically migrating them to an internal photocatalytic dismantling grid. The grid is a multicellular foundation of tetrafluoroethylene (Teflon) or Teflon-coated metal, with an outer layer of photocatalytic nanocrystals embedded in a durable, porous coating that is energized by ultraviolet radiation to create powerful surface dismantling agents thereon, including hydroxyl radicals, from natural elements in ambient air. Pathogens, mycotoxins, spores, odor molecules, allergens, smoke particles, and industrial pollutants are structurally dissociated into harmless protein fragments and natural molecules when they encounter the dismantling grid. The decontamination phenomenon is amplified by using the natural or enhanced positive or negative electrostatic surface charge on the suspended particles to migrate them to the dismantling grid for photocatalytic destruction. Contaminants, suspended water molecules, and trace ozone ions are drawn to the dismantling grid in this manner, also enhancing the supply of raw material from which the dismantling agents are created. The dismantling grid is self-cleaning and maintenance free, and is designed to use UV energy in a bandwidth that can physically inactivate pathogen replication defenses until photocatalytic destruction. Depending on the UV energy used, none of the powerful dismantling agents escape the apparatus because of their short half-lives. Once their job is done all return to the natural elements from which they were made, creating no environmental harm.

摘要: An apparatus and method is provided for translating addresses and rerouting them to preferably one of at least two destinations. This is accomplished through the use of a memory unit and a combination of logic operation units that essentially operate as a look-up translation table configurable by software. The apparatus includes an input to receive an address of a certain length and a memory unit that is adapted to receive a portion of the input address and output another address of a predetermined length which is mapped to the input. The method includes receiving input addresses of a certain length and performing an operation on a portion of the input address to determine its destination.
