摘要: A compact, low-cost combined transmitting/receiving optical communications module, which is suitable for use in a TCM system and which is capable of normal operation over a particularly wide temperature range in optical communications equipment, is provided. The optical transmitting/receiving section for this purpose has a laser diode which outputs a transmitted optical signal, a combined monitor/receiving photodiode which not only monitors the optical output signal from the laser diode during a transmitting period, but also receives the input optical signal from the transmission path during the receiving period, and an optical mixer/divider which performs transmitting/receiving mixing and dividing between the transmission path, the laser diode, and the photodiode. A drive section has a transmitting/receiving switching circuit which performs time-division transmitting/receiving switching and a threshold control circuit which performs successive control of the bias current of the laser diode so that the optical noise output monitored by the photodiode is maximized.

摘要: A bundle of permselective hollow fibers is disclosed, containing a plurality of filaments having a fineness of from 0.05 to 20 denier at a filament-to-hollow fiber ratio of from 2 to 3000. The filaments intermingle with the hollow fibers substantially lengthwise over the length of the hollow fibers, and substantially all of the filaments each engage with at least one of the hollow fibers, thereby placing the hollow fibers into an inseparable bundle. The bundle has not only a high packing ratio of hollow fibers, but also an effective arrangement for efficiently exerting a high performance of each hollow fiber. The bundle can be constructed into a fluid separator, which is useful for dialysis, ultrafiltration, osmosis, reverse osmosis, pressure separation of gas mixtures and the like.

摘要: A printing head for thermally printing on a recording medium by using an electrically resistive layer provided on a film or ribbon or on the medium. The head includes a thermal head having a substrate, and a plurality of recording electrodes disposed on the substrate. Each electrode has an electrical contact portion for electrically contacting the resistive layer of the film, ribbon or medium. The contact portions of the two electrodes cooperate to energize the resistive layer, so that the energized portion of the resistive layer generates Joule heat which either transfers ink material of an ink layer onto the ordinary recording medium, or which produces color on the surface of the thermosensible recording medium. The substrate of the head is made of a material having a low wear resistance, and the electrical contact portion of each electrode has a thickness of at least one micron and is made of an electrically conductive material for resisting oxidation deterioration thereof. The conductive material is selected from the group consisting of: a metal silicide; at least one metal selected from the group consisting of chromium, titanium, tantalum, zirconium, hafnium and niobium; at least one alloy or metal compound which contains at least one of the metals indicated above.

摘要: A printing apparatus for printing on a recording medium by using an ink film which has an electrically resistive layer and a thermally fusible and transferable ink layer. The apparatus includes a thermal head which has a substrate, and a plurality of recording electrodes disposed on the substrate. Each electrode has an electrical contact portion for contacting the resistive layer of the ink film. The contact portions of pairs of electrodes cooperate to energize the electrically resistive layer of the ink film, so that the energized portion of the resistive layer generates Joule heat for heating the corresponding portion of the ink layer, thereby softening ink material and transferring the softened ink material onto the recording medium. The substrate of the thermal head is made of a material having a low wear resistance, and the electrical contact portion of each electrode of the thermal head consists essentially of an electrically conductive material selected from the group consisting of: a metal silicide; at least one metal selected from the group consisting of chromium, titanium, tantalum, zirconium, hafnium and niobium; at least one alloy which contains at least one of the metals indicated above; and at least one metal compound which contains at least one of the metals.
