Abstract:
A method and system for processing an image in a digital reprographic system that performs a first segmentation process upon a contone digital image to identify one of a plurality of image data types for each pixel in the contone digital image, generating tags, binarizing the contone digital image and storing the binary image as an intermediate format. This binary image is later reconstructed to generate a reconstructed contone digital image; and performing a second segmentation process upon the reconstructed contone digital image to identify areas of the reconstructed contone digital image with common image data types.
Abstract:
A binary resolution conversion apparatus and method is provided. The apparatus comprising a data processing module comprising 1-bit data inputs and a tag data input, the data associated with an image, wherein the apparatus reduces the resolution of the image.
Abstract:
An original image is received. The original image is divided into tiles. A whitepoint value of each tile is determined. A blackpoint value of each tile is determined. A whitepoint value of each pixel in the image is determined by interpolating the determined whitepoint values of neighboring tiles. A blackpoint of each pixel in the image is determined by interpolating the determined blackpoint values of neighboring tiles.
Abstract:
In a mixed raster content (MRC) image data format, where a separation plane is used to define portions of the image to compressed in a lossy or lossless manner, edge pixels are identified in the separation plane. Each edge pixel is modified to assume a maximum luminance and most neutral chrominance found among neighboring pixels. The modification of the edge pixel data minimizes artifacts such as fringe effects when the image data is compressed and subsequently decompressed.
Abstract:
An original image is received in a red-green-blue color space. Pixels in the original image are converted to a luminance-chrominance color space. Background pixels in the original image are determined by comparing a luminance value of each pixel to a selectable luminance threshold, and comparing chrominance value of each pixel to a predetermined chrominance threshold. Chrominance values of the background pixels in each chrominance channel are adjusted.

Abstract:
A method of combustion for pulverized hydrocarbonaceous fuel includes injecting a concentrated fuel and air stream into a burner, causing a low-pressure zone; directing a flow of a high-temperature combustion gas from a combustion chamber into the low-pressure zone in the burner; mixing the high-temperature combustion gas with the injected concentrated stream to heat the injected concentrated stream; injecting the heated concentrated stream from the burner to the combustion chamber, wherein the concentrated stream is rapidly devolatilized and combusted in a flame that has a fuel-rich flame zone; sensing a combustion parameter; and, based on the sensed combustion parameter, controlling combustion to achieve at least one of a desired NOx reduction and a desired distance from the burner to a flame front.
Abstract:
A background detection process that analyzes background information for the purpose of limiting the impact of intensity information obtained from non-document areas includes: identifying a first white peak from pixels within a first document region; identifying a second white peak from pixels within a second document region; determining if the first white peak was identified using image data from outside of the input document; and if so, identifying a third white peak from pixels within the first document region based on the second white peak.
Abstract:
A manual windowing with auto-segmentation assistance method and system are disclosed that include defining manual tags to be assigned to one or more windows via a tag selection module, assigning the defined manual tags to the one or more windows via a manual tag assignment module and auto-segmenting the one or more windows within the display medium by producing auto-segmentation tags via the auto-segmentation module. Furthermore the method and system according to this invention provide for mapping tags to the auto-segmentation tags via a tag mapping module and merging the manual tags and the auto-segmentation tags via a merging module.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method and apparatus for classifying image data. A video peak/valley counter may count peaks and valleys within a window of the input image data. The apparatus and method checks whether any peaks or valleys are located within a neighborhood of a pixel under consideration.
