摘要:
The invention concerns an installation for measuring the concentration in dense granular material in a flow comprising a liquid, a dense granular material and suspended fine particles. The invention is characterised in that it comprises: at least a member for separating the dense granular material from the liquid and the suspended fine particles, at least a device for measuring (12, 12a, 13) at least a parameter representing the amount of separated dense granular material for a specific time interval T. Such an installation may be integrated in a ballasted-floc water treatment system.

In a fluoride including waste water processing device which comprises a reaction vessel and a sedimentation vessel, a calcium compound adding device adds calcium compound in fluoride including waste water in the reaction vessel to react the calcium compound with fluoride of the fluoride including waste water to generate calcium fluoride. The sedimentation vessel has a bottom which is associated with a bottom of the reaction vessel through an opening hole. The fluoride including waste water is sent to the sedimentation vessel from the reaction vessel through the opening hole. The sedimentation vessel has an inclined bottom surface. The calcium fluoride is sent back, by a self-weight of the calcium fluoride, to the reaction vessel from the sedimentation vessel along the inclined bottom surface. An agitator aggregates the fluoride including waste water in the reaction vessel. A polymer solution adding device adds polymer solution in the fluoride including waste water in the reaction vessel. A supernatant liquid draining device drains supernatant liquid of fluoride including waste water from the sedimentation vessel.

A water aeration system for receiving gas and/or iron laden water from a water source and delivering purified water to a service line. The system includes a tank with an internal volume fillable with water, a tank inlet, a tank outlet, and an aerator. Water is introduced into the tank through the tank inlet and passes downwardly within the tank. The downwardly moving water encounters a counterflow of upwardly migrating bubbles introduced into the tank by the aerator, and the air bubbles cause impurities in the water to precipitate out and settle onto the floor of the tank and gases to the vented to atmosphere. After moving to the bottom portion of the internal volume of the tank, the water passes upwardly through an upstanding water outlet pipe located within the tank internal volume and passes through the tank outlet to be removed from the tank. The system may also include a mechanism for flushing from the tank precipitates collected on the tank floor. The system may also use a regenerative blower as a portion of the aerator.

A water treatment tank for separating particles from water, has a separation chamber with at least one set of inclined parallel plates, with a slot between each pair of adjacent plates for substantial horizontal flow of water between the plates. A sludge chamber is located beneath the separation chamber for collecting sludge including the particles separated from the water during passage of the water through the separation chamber. An inlet chamber on one side of the separation chamber introduces the substantially horizontal flow of water into the separation chamber, and an outlet chamber on an opposite side of the separation chamber receives the flow in the substantially horizontal direction from the separation chamber. The outlet chamber is located above and communicates with the sludge chamber and further separates particles from the water in the outlet chamber, the particles descending into the sludge chamber. An outlet channel is located in an upper portion of the outlet chamber and has an outlet weir on each side of the outlet channel. The outlet channel and outlet weirs extend for the length of the separation chamber, and a surface layer of water in the outlet chamber overflows the outlet weirs into the outlet channel to create an outflow. An overflow rate of water per unit length of the outlet weirs is minimized for a given tank flow rate.

457,756. Treating sewage; gravity-separation apparatus. DORR-OLIVER CO., Ltd., Abford House, Wilton Road, Westminster, and GIBBS, R. C., Ash House, Garrard Road, Banstead, Surrey. March 1, 1935, No. 6546. [Class 111] Liquid such as sewage is treated with coagulating agent, agitated by paddles to promote flocculation and allowed to drift horizontally to a settling-tank without such changes of direction as would cause disintegration of the flocks. The liquid is first thoroughly mixed with a coagulating agent such as lime by means of a high-speed agitating device, then passed through a tank 32, Fig. 3, with baffles 47 and rotating paddles 36, which cause the suspended matter to flocculate as described in Specification 407,807. From the tank 32 it passes along a channel fitted with paddles to a settling tank 13, and is distributed downwardly in the tank through a stationary cylindrical chamber 40 and a ring 42, carried by a rotating drum 18 to which sludge scrapers 16 are attached. Clear liquid overflows at the periphery and sludge collected by the scrapers 16 is directed into a depressed portion 12 of the tank fitted with an agitator 28 of the " picket fence " type, which is supported by and rotates with the drum 18 and to which scrapers 54 are attached. This subjects the sludge to a gentle disturbance which promotes further thickening. The thickened sludge is discharged through a pipe 61. In a modified form of apparatus the flocculating paddles are arranged in an extension of the settling tank on its inlet side. In another form, Fig. 8, the flocculating paddles 36 are arranged at the inlet side of a rectangular settling-tank, clear liquid flowing over a weir 85 at the opposite end. The sludge is moved laterally by scrapers 17 supported by swing arms from a carriage 22 which is reciprocated on tracks 23. The sludge thus collected is pushed into the compartment 12 by another scraper mounted on the carriage and arranged to operate only when the carriage moves towards the compartment 12. The agitator in the compartment 12 is attached to a shaft 29 driven by the motor which drives the paddles 36. A bar 88 suspended from the carriage 22 directs scum into a launder 87.
