摘要: In a settling tank of the invention, treated water has good quality and whose operation is stable over a long period. A settling tank includes a tank body having a circular-cylindrical shape whose axial direction corresponds to the vertical direction, a distributor provided in a lower part (near the bottom) of the tank body, an outlet provided in a middle part or a part slightly above the middle part of a side face of the tank body, a receiving tank communicating with the tank body via the outlet, a stirring device provided in the tank body, a trough for extracting treated water provided in an upper part of the tank body, a sludge discharge port through which concentrated sludge is extracted from a lower part of the receiving tank, and so forth. A stirring member is provided below the distributor.

摘要: Various techniques are provided in relation to flocculation and/or dewatering of thick fine tailings, with shear conditioning of flocculated tailings material in accordance with a pre-determined shearing parameter, such as the Camp Number. One example method of treating thick fine tailings including dispersing a flocculant into the thick fine tailings to form a flocculating mixture; shearing the flocculating mixture to increase yield stress and produce a flocculated mixture; shear conditioning the flocculated mixture to decrease the yield stress and break down flocs, the shear conditioning being performed in accordance with the pre-determined shearing parameter to produce conditioned flocculated material within a water release zone where release water separates from the conditioned flocculated material. The conditioned flocculated material can then be subjected to dewatering, for example by depositing, thickening or filtering. The design, construction and/or operation of a flocculation pipeline assembly can be facilitated.

摘要: Provided are a distributor capable of feeding a liquid in a state of evenly flowing out from an entire opening while avoiding the opening from being blocked by sludge and keeping a pressure loss small, a settling tank that employs the distributor, and a method for operating the settling tank. A distributor 10 being in the form of a rectangular frame and having straight tubular sides 11 to 14 is disposed in a lower space within a settling tank 1. A liquid outlet opening 16 extending in a lengthwise direction of the distributor 10 is formed in a bottom surface of the distributor 10. An open angle θ of the opening 16 with respect to a tube axis is 60 to 180°, and preferably 90 to 150°.

摘要: The present invention provides a method (20) of separating pulp from a feed material within a tank (1), the method comprising the steps of (23) introducing the feed material (22) into the tank (1); (24) allowing the feed material (22) to settle in the tank (1); (25) allowing the pulp (21) to form into aggregates (13); (26) allowing the pulp aggregates (13) to settle towards the bottom of the tank (1) and form a networked layer (2) of pulp; and (27) causing a disturbance substantially uniformly across a disturbance zone (16) in an upper region of the networked layer (2), so as to disrupt the networked pulp in the disturbance zone within a predetermined period of time; thereby releasing entrained liquid from the networked pulp in the disturbance zone (16) and increasing the relative density of the pulp below the disturbance zone. The invention also provides a separation device (40) for separating pulp (21) from a feed material (22).
