Abstract:
The invention relates to a Laval nozzle for thermal spraying and kinetic spraying, especially for cold gas spraying, with a convergent section and a divergent section. To achieve a better degree of application effect, at least a portion of the divergent section, according to the invention, has a bell-shaped contour.
Abstract:
An innovative method of prepping a surface entails entraining a coating particle into a fluid stream, directing the fluid stream containing the coating particle at the surface to be prepped to thereby prep the surface using the coating particle. The prepped surface can then be coated using the same or substantially similar coating particle. This method can be used with a continuous airjet, a forced pulsed airjet, a continuous waterjet or a forced pulsed waterjet as the carrier stream. This invention solves the problem of foreign blasting particles becoming embedded in the atomic matrix of the surface to be prepped, which can result in unpredictable behavior of the surface properties and even catastrophic failure.
Abstract:
A spray nozzle for atmospheric plasma spraying is provided. The nozzle includes an attachment at an axial end of the spray nozzle from which a protective gas may be discharged in the outflow direction. By means of a plasma spray nozzle that enables atmospheric plasma spraying using protective gas, it is also possible to deposit oxidation-sensitive metal coatings in atmosphere.
Abstract:
Powder-delivery apparatus for delivering powdered cladding-material into the vicinity of a laser-beam spot includes a plurality of powder-delivery modules. Each of the modules is arranged to receive the cladding-material and deliver the cladding-material through a plurality of nozzles. The position of the nozzles in the modules with respect to the laser-beam spot is adjustable in three Cartesian axes. The modules are selectively removable from, and attachable to the apparatus. Nozzles in any one of the modules can be selectively prevented from delivering cladding-material.
Abstract:
Different types of apparatus for fabricating a deposit, method of deposition and an article are presented. The apparatus include a thermal spray gun comprising a combustion chamber, combustion zone, an air injection port, a fuel injection port, a nozzle and a liquid injection port. The combustion zone exists between the inlet side and outlet side of the combustion chamber. The method includes, among other things, providing a fuel and an oxidizer inside the combustion zone, initiating combustion inside the combustion zone, and directing products of the combustion toward the outlet side to create a combustion product stream. The method also includes introducing a feedstock mixture comprising a feedstock material and a liquid into the combustion product stream to create an entrained feedstock stream, and expelling the entrained feedstock stream from the spray gun through a nozzle to form a deposit on a surface of the article.
Abstract:
Proposed is a device for coating substrates by means of high-velocity flame spraying. The device comprises a combustion chamber (4), a first fuel feeder (L1) for feeding a liquid or gaseous fuel as well as at least one gas feeder for feeding an oxidative gas. The devise comprises furthermore a second fuel feeder (L5) for feeding a liquid or gaseous fuel as well as at least one further gas feeder for feeding a gas. Both the first gas feeder and the two fuel feeders (L1, L5) port into a common combustion chamber (4). In addition, means 24, 28 are provided for independent control of the fuel feed into the two fuel feeders (L1, L5).
Abstract:
The present invention provides a system for producing coatings on a substrate from a liquid feedstock. The system comprises an axial injection thermal spray torch and a liquid feedstock delivery means for delivering a controlled flow of liquid feedstock to the torch. The torch is provided with a convergent/divergent nozzle.
Abstract:
Provided is a resin coated member produced according to a coating method through HVOF spraying that comprises generating a combustion jet in a combustion chamber connected to one end of a barrel while controlling the temperature of the combustion jet by supply of an inert gas to the jet, feeding resin coating materials into the temperature-controlled combustion jet and leading them to pass through the barrel, and spouting the coating particles through a spout port along with the combustion jet therethrough to thereby coat the substrate surface; wherein the length of the barrel, the temperature of the combustion jet and the physical properties of the coating particles are defined so as to satisfy both the following formulae (1) and (2), and wherein the interface between the coating material and the substrate surface has a structure of such that the two break in each other with at least micron-pitch irregularities. Numerical Formula 1 α × t r > 0.5 ( 1 ) Numerical Formula 2 2.5
Abstract:
A fluid amplification and mixing device is provided, which includes a siphon plug defining a first portion of a passageway being configured to receive a first fluid. The siphon plug further defines at least one opening configured to receive a second fluid in communication with the passageway. A venturi defines a second portion of the passageway for receiving a mixture of the first and second fluids. The venturi further defines an input port configured to receive a third fluid and at least one accelerator chamber communicating with the input port and the second portion of the passageway. A siphon barrel defines a third portion of the passageway being configured to receive a mixture of the first, second and third fluids and supply the mixture to a combustion chamber thereof.
Abstract:
A process and apparatus for forming a coherent refractory mass on the surface of a road wherein one or more non-combustible materials are mixed with one or more metallic combustible powders and an oxidizer, igniting the mixture so that the combustible metallic particles react in an exothermic manner with the oxidizer and release sufficient heat to form a coherent mass under the action of the heat of combustion and projecting this mass against the surface of the road so that the mass adheres durably to the surface of the road. The combustion chamber can be operative with a reverse vortex to cool the walls of the chamber.
