    Abstract: Application of a resin to a pool surface to provide a colored finish that is ultraviolet resistant. The resin may be a powder that can be melted at a fairly low temperature and applied to the pool surface. A first later of resin may be applied to an epoxy layer that is applied to the pool surface to provide better adhesion while the epoxy is still tacky (hot-flocking). The hot-flocking causes the resin and the epoxy to blend into a single layer. An additional layer of resin may be applied after the epoxy and the first layer of resin fully cured. After the second layer of resin has cured an additional layer may be applied to provide designs and/or markings. The designs/markings may be produced with tape and/or stencils and the next layer may be applied to the non-covered areas to provide the desired look.

    Abstract: A method is disclosed for applying a vibration-damping surface to an article. The method includes providing a coating material comprising a ceramic, metallic or cermet material and a viscoelastic glass frit and plasma spraying the coating material onto an article. The coating material forms a plurality of ceramic, metallic or cermet microstructures having voids with the viscoelastic glass frit distributed to interact with the voids to provide vibration damping. Also disclosed are plasma spray coatings for damping vibrations that includes a ceramic-glass frit composite coating capable of reducing resonant vibrations in a substrate at temperatures between 700° F. to 1500° F. and said plasma spray coating as a coating on a substrate.

    Abstract: Disclosed are methods for coating a substrate. These methods include: (a) vertically orienting the substrate between a vertically oriented backstop and a spray gun; (b) at least partially coating the vertically oriented substrate with a substantially 100% solids, radiation curable liquid coating composition by passing the composition through the spray gun wherein the composition is atomized; whereby a portion of the atomized coating composition deposits on the vertically oriented substrate and a portion of the atomized coating composition deposits on the vertically oriented backstop; (c) exposing the coated substrate to ionizing radiation and/or actinic radiation to cure the coating composition deposited thereon; and (d) removing and reusing at least a portion of the coating composition deposited on the vertically oriented backstop. Related coating systems are also disclosed.
