    摘要: In an end sealing step, an end is sealed by which the core material of the end of a spring member is gathered by machining. For example, a squeezing roller is moved in an axial direction as necessary, while the end of the spring member is pressed to the inside in a radial direction by the squeezing roller. As a result, the end of the spring member is sealed and therefore, it is not necessary to use another member such as a lid member. For example, the end sealing step can be immediately carried out after an inner surface processing step. In a coil forming step after the end sealing step, formation of clearance can be prevented at the end even if the end of the spring member is gripped and the spring member is wound around the rod.

The atmosphere in steps from the slab heating step to the coiling step is a non-oxidizing atmosphere. The slab steel contains C: 0.01-0.15%, Si: 0.1-1.8%, Mn: 1.0-2.7%, Al: 0.01-1.5%, P: 0.005-0.025%, and S: 0.01% or less, by mass. A hot-dip galvanized steel sheet is produced by pickling the hot rolled steel sheet to remove mill scale, or by pickling the sheet and further cold-rolling the sheet, and subsequently by subjecting the resultant to hot-dip galvanizing.

    摘要: Discrete bars are formed into a spiral component for a baluster by disposing a plurality of the bars side by side. A rod is butt welded to one of the two ends of the plurality of bars. Then the bars are cold twisted axially a first angular amount in one direction by applying twisting torque along the bars, without twisting the rod welded to the bars. The bars are also cold twisted in the opposite direction a second angular amount less than the first angular amount, while axially compressing the bars to form a spiral. The twisting can be done with a machine having a spaced pair of holding devices mounted on a frame. These holding devices can hold therebetween a number of the bars side by side and in abutting alignment with one of the rods. At least one of the holding devices has a holder for holding and preventing twisting of one of the rods. One of the holding devices can twist the bars while the other acts as a slider mounted on a pair of rails to be driven by a linear ram. For synchronously forming groupings of discrete bars into spiral components, a common drive motor can turn at least one of said holding devices at each of the frames. Then the bars in each of the groupings can be cold twisted synchronously and axially in one direction then the other, while axially compressing the bars to form a spiral.

The relatively high tube collapse that results from bending in such manner without the use of a ball mandrel does not detract from performance of the heat exchanger in a relatively low flow rate furnace application.

    摘要: This invention relates to a die device for forming tube from a metal band, wherein the die comprises a long die block comprising, lengthwise and passing through it, a conduit comprising an inlet orifice of larger cross section and an outlet orifice of smaller cross section. The conduit converges from the inlet orifice towards the outlet orifice. At the level of the inlet orifice, the conduit is of a width slightly greater than that of said metal band. As the planar metal band passes through the conduit, it is formed by the interior surface, or generatrices, of the conduit into a tube of the desired configuration. Means are provided for creating tubes of differing cross-sectional shapes, such as a square, or a circular configuration. The die block is removably mounted on a carriage, which carriage is movable horizontally in front of a horizontal mandrel driven in rotation. The tube created by passage through the die block is wound around the mandrel. The mandrel is removable and each mandrel may be constructed of differing cross sections, such as circular or elliptical, depending upon the desired product. The carriage is mounted to pivot about a horizontal axis parallel to the mandrel and comprises means for positioning it in inclination, so that the tube issuing from the die block is tangential to said mandrel.

    摘要: A disc roller mechanism and method for forming helical-shaped structures from a feed wire or rod, wherein the feed wire is drawn through a plurality of staggered disc-shaped forming rollers by rotation of the rollers, while the wire is also being rotated about its own axis so as to form the desired helical-shaped product. The roller mechanism includes a support frame and a first set of at least two fixed position driven disc-shaped rollers and a second set of at least one idler disc-shaped rollers, said idler rollers being transversely adjustable positions relative to the first driven roller set rotatably mounted in the frame. The driven roller set usually has a roughened outer perimeter surface to facilitate drawing the feed wire through the intersecting forming rollers. If desired, the feed wire can be pulled off a rotatable supply spool such as by a pair of guiding rollers and then passed through the staggered disc-shaped forming rollers to provide the desired helical-shaped product.
