Abstract: A liner for use with a gas turbine engine includes a first liner portion including a first upstream surface and a first downstream surface. The liner further includes a second liner portion spaced apart from the first liner portion. The second liner portion includes a second upstream surface and a second downstream surface. The second upstream surface faces the first downstream surface. Each of the first liner portion and the second liner portion at least circumferentially and radially extends with respect to a central axis. Each of the first liner portion and the second liner portion includes a substrate made of a metallic material and a wear resistant coating disposed on at least a portion of the substrate. The wear resistant coating is made of a polymeric material. The wear resistant coating at least forms the first downstream surface and the second upstream surface.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing an engine connecting rod includes mounting a rod on a first mount configured to rotate, mounting a cap on a second mount configured to rotate, positioning a spindle head such that a tool of the spindle head contacts a first connecting end of the rod, machining the first connecting end by spinning the first mount, machining the first connecting end by moving the spindle head, positioning the spindle head such that the tool of the spindle head contacts a second connecting end of the cap configured to be coupled to the first connecting end, machining the second connecting end by spinning the second mount, and machining the second connecting end by moving the spindle head. The spindle head is moveable in a first direction extending between the first and second mounts, a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, a third direction perpendicular to the first and second directions, and rotatable about an axis.

Abstract: A novel latch seat for a switching rocker arm assembly used in variable valve actuation (VVA) systems for internal combustion engines. The seat is formed interactively in the assembled switching rocker arm using a novel fixture and press. The press interactively creates a curved dimple of the correct curvature, position and depth while measuring several lash dimensions. Since the latch seat is formed on the assembled rocker arm assembly, the latch seat depth is designed to account for the inaccuracies in the rocker arm assembly parts which create lash. Therefore all of the parts may be made with less precision since the latch seat is sized to compensate for the inaccuracies of all of the parts. The rocker arm assembly parts now may be manufactured to less stringent standards, but result in a rocker arm assembly with same accuracy of rocker arm assemblies manufactured to previous standards.

Abstract: A valve stem seal exhibits superior workability of mounting of a reinforcing ring to a valve stem guide and enables the reinforcing ring to be fixed to the valve stem guide in a stable manner. A reinforcing ring is mounted to a valve stem guide by fitting a cylindrical portion to the valve stem guide from a side opposite to an inward flange portion. The cylindrical portion includes a slit extending linearly in a circumferential direction and a locking protrusion that is provided on a side opposite to the inward flange portion with respect to the slit and that is to be locked by a locking recess formed in the valve stem guide. The locking protrusion is constituted by a curved portion that is gradually recessed radially inward from the side opposite to the inward flange portion with respect to the slit to a position that reaches the slit.
