Abstract:
A sorting conveyor for transporting objects and unloading objects at one or more unloading stations adjacent the conveyor. The sorting conveyor includes a conveyor track and a train of conveyor carts connected end-to-end. At least one of the conveyor carts may include a frame base for engaging the conveyer track; a carrying tray for holding the objects; and a support for supporting the carrying tray above the frame base. A tilting mechanism including at least one gear having at least one cam is adapted for tilting the carrying tray toward at least one side of the conveyor. The present inventions may further include a tilt sensor for determining the direction of tilt of the tray. In addition, a drive motor and a driven member attached to the frame base may be included for moving the conveyor carts around the track.

A sorting device for sorting products, for example pieces of luggage, including a removing mechanism moving the product to be sorted off the supporting surface at a desired sorting location, wherein the removing mechanism includes a pusher element and a moving mechanism moving the pusher element laterally at a sorting location so as to have the pusher element push the product to be sorted off the supporting surface. The removing mechanism further includes two guides each sorting unit for guiding two respective guide members of the pusher element during the lateral movement of the pusher element.

A conveying system comprises a frame and an endless belt moveable relative to the frame. The belt comprises a first fabric layer having an inner surface and an outer surface that at least partially forms an upper surface of the belt. A composition comprising a flame retardant is adhered to the inner surface of the first fabric layer such that the composition at least partially forms the inner surface of the first fabric layer. A second fabric layer has an inner surface and an outer surface that at least partially forms a bottom surface of the belt. A composition comprising polyurethane is adhered to the inner surface of the second fabric layer such that the composition at least partially forms the inner surface of the second fabric layer. An at least substantially solid lubricant composition is impregnated in the second fabric layer and at least partially forms the bottom surface of the belt. The belt is supported on a slider bed for movement across the slider bed.

The present disclosure is directed to a carriage frame that is used in a slope plate carriage carrousel system that may be found in airports for conveying luggage for passengers to claim. A slope plate carrousel carriage frame according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes a slope plate support member. The slope plate support member is configured to support a slope plate of the carrousel system. A lower carriage is coupled to the slope plate support member. The carriage frame also includes at least one removable connecting link.

A sorting device and a method for sorting goods in transit for an aircraft are disclosed. The sorting device includes a sorting region with a sorting unit and a storage region. The sorting region is adapted such that goods in transit are capable of being provided to the sorting region in an undetermined first arrangement. The sorting region includes a longitudinal axis, where a sorting unit may be moved along the longitudinal axis of the sorting region. The sorting unit is capable of sorting the goods in transit from an undetermined first arrangement to a predetermined second arrangement, where the goods in transit may be provided in the predetermined second arrangement in the storage region.

Systems and methods for article conveyance and orientation are provided. The system includes first and second conveyors, which convey articles in a conveying direction. The system also includes first and second sensors, which detect articles conveyed on the first and second conveyors, and which are coupled to a controller. The controller, based on information received from the first and second sensors, controls the first and second conveyors to orient the articles so that the articles have a size in a direction of conveyance which is greater than a size in a direction transverse to the direction of conveyance. The controller also controls the system to prevent another article from being conveyed onto the first and second conveyors when an article is being oriented.

The invention relates to the drive for a conveyor, in particular baggage conveyor having overlapping plate-like carriers which are fastened on an endlessly circulating articulated traction chain. In order for the drive to be of straightforward, functional and effective configuration, the invention proposes a drive mechanism which comprises at least one helically toothed rotationally driven worm which is oriented parallel to the transporting direction and in the manner of a worm gear mechanism, as it is driven in rotation about its longitudinal axis, corresponds with drivers which are provided on the traction chain and engage in a form-fitting manner in the toothing formation of the worm.

A baggage screening system and method includes providing a plurality of screening subsystems, each including an automated baggage screen device and a feed conveyor for feeding bags to the screen device. A supply conveyor is provided for supplying bags to the screen subsystems. A sortation network sorts bags downstream of the screen device as a function of the screening of the bags.
