Abstract: A skirt seal impact bracket for supporting a conveyor belt idler which improves the impact characteristics of a suspension type idler by enabling the idlers to yield under the force of material being loaded thereonto and thereby protects the idler from undue stress and extends the life of the same. The skirt seal bracket includes a mounting assembly for the bearings of the first and second ends of a belt conveyor idler so as to allow arced pivoting of each bearing of the idler about a point substantially corresponding to a contact point of a trough skirt seal and a belt conveyed by the idler. In this manner, downward movement of a central portion of the idler in response to a load impinging thereon causes the pivoting of each of the bearings about the point of contact of the trough skirt seal and the belt. Further, a structure for limiting such pivoting and downward movement is provided. Finally, a configuration for urging the idler to return toward a pre-loaded position is provided for returning the idler following such impact.

Abstract: A tubular belt conveyor can transport powdered or granular material without leakage. To roll up a flat belt into a tubular shape, a belt guiding device is provided in the vicinity of a front or a rear end roller. The belt guiding device comprises a base plate and a plurality of guide frames provided on the base plate. In the guide frame, a plurality of guide rollers are arranged like a circle through which the belt to be rolled up passes. The diameter of the circle formed by the guide rollers increases gradually towards the front or the rear end roller to prevent the belt from slacking so that smooth running may be assured.

Abstract: A slider bed conveyor apparatus and associated method comprising a conveyor belt system having a frame, a slider bed and head and tail idler rollers on either end of the slider bed that are secured to and in recessed position to the slider bed and a conveyor belt running over the idler rollers. When loads such as impact loads are placed on the conveyor belt, the slider bed supports the conveyor belt at the point where the material is loaded. This action resists sagging and stretching of the conveyor belt and also reduces wear on the idler rollers. The idler rollers are each mounted on a shaft and are adapted to be vertically adjustable depending on load requirements. The conveyor belt system is modular and of unitary structure and several modules can be joined so as to form a conveyor belt system of any desired length.

Abstract: A dual conveyor system is provided for conveying particulate material. The system includes a frame with an upper and lower conveyor housed therein. The lower track of the upper conveyor is closely spaced to the upper track of the lower conveyor so as to define a passageway therebetween through which the material is conveyed. A single motor drives both conveyors. The lower conveyor extends beyond the upper conveyor at both the inlet and outlet ends of the system so that material can be deposited and discharged without interference by the upper conveyor. A plurality of stationary hold-down bars are mounted on the frame between the upper and lower tracks of the upper conveyor and are slidably frictionally engaged by such lower track so as to prevent the lower track of the upper conveyor from being moved apart from the upper track of the lower conveyor by the material being conveyed therebetween. The depth of the passageway between the lower track of the upper conveyor and the upper track of the lower conveyor is adjustable so that the volume of material conveyed therein can be controlled. An adjustable support frame supports the upper and lower conveyors and allows the elevation of the outlet end of the passageway to be adjusted with respect to the inlet end of the passageway.

The links carry rollers which travel along guidance tracks which diverge from the track which guides the chain. Abstract: A folding belt system having the head and tail pulleys twice the width of the support idler rolls and having a transition length of about 7 to 15 times the width of the belt between the fold or hinge lines, where transition width support rolls are located. The folding conveyor belt is composed of a central belt section which has specially constructed flexible areas at each edge extending longitudinally the length of the belt to which are attached cover flaps. The cover flaps completely enclose the load while it is conveyed. This reduces spillage, dust, and contamination while providing highly enhanced conveying capacity. The flaps may be of the same or different construction than the center section of the belt. In it's preferred embodiment the folded belt is constructed by suitably providing the top cover of a fully cured conveyor belt with longitudinal grooves formed by slitting and removing a strip of rubber at the appropriate locations to form preferentially flexible longitudinal hinge areas in the belt with the dominions outside the hinges comprising the cover flaps. Alternately the hinge areas can be molded into the belt at the time of manufacture.

Abstract: A bucket for attachment to the chain in a mill duty bucket elevator, includes a one piece wrapper member bent into a U-shaped trough defined by a sloping front wall, a horizontal bottom wall, an upright rear wall, a forwardly sloping rear wall, and a horizontal top lip. A rectangular hole in the wrapper plate defines the outside edges of a chain channel in which the chain lies when the bucket is fastened to the chain. The partitions brace the front wall and act as side walls of the chain channel. Abstract: An easily-cleaned, rubberized conveyor assembly especially adapted for conveying granular or semi-fluid material. The present invention is particularly concerned with conveying food materials where cleaning and sanitary conditions are important. The invention is also particularly described with regard to a conveyor for the bottom of a holding or surge bin, but has other applications. In the invention, upright side guards along opposite sides of a continuous rubberized belt separate the belt into a central load-carrying portion and outer edge aligned portions.
