摘要: A means for binding wire around an object. The means comprises a feeding unit (2) with a feeding wheel (11) for feeding and stretching the wire (3). The measuring of fed wire length normally takes place in that the feeding wheel (11) rotates through a predetermined number of revolutions. Sliding between the wire (3) and feeding wheel (11), however, implies that the position of the wire cannot be determined accurately. As a solution of this problem a separate measuring means (5) is provided for continuously measuring the fed wire length (3), where the measuring is carried out without the measuring means (5) feeding the wire (3).

摘要: In a fishline length measurement device for a fishing reel, a random access memory is provided for storing as a data map a relationship between spool rotation numbers and corresponding fishline outer circumferential surface diameters. Both are detected during initial casts or winding of the fishline so that a outer circumferential surface diameter corresponding to a spool rotation number detected by a spool rotation sensor is selected from the data map in subsequent casts or winding of the fishline. Fishline length is calculated based on the detected rotation number and the selected diameter. Thus, it is possible to reduce consumptive electric power of the battery without any deterioration to the fishline length measurement function. In another feature of the present invention temperature compensation is provided to correct for changes in ambient temperature surrounding the fishing reel.

摘要: Method of measurement of the total length of a yarn formed winding material (3) running onto a wound package (1), in particular a yarn web running onto the winding beam of a winding machine. During continuous winding operation, the length is ascertained by means of a measuring roll (2) over which the material to be wound (3) is guided. During acceleration and braking procedures, slippage occurs between the material to be wound (3) and the measuring roll (2). On occurrence of slippage, the system of measurement is changed, and the length of the wound package is determined from the rotational speed of the wound package (.omega..sub.w) and the circumference of the wound package (1). The circumference of the wound package (1), as well as the increase of the wound package circumference per rotation of the wound package, are ascertained during continuous winding operation.

摘要: A body ply splice width monitor is provided to sense the leading and trailing edges of a lateral splice in a web of tire body ply material and to produce an indication upon a monitor as to whether such splice satisfies certain dimensional criteria. A first pair of sensors is maintained along one edge of the web, while a second pair of sensors is maintained along the opposite edge. An encoder tracks the movement of the web through the array of sensors and provides output pulses corresponding to finite dimensional lengths of the web. The number of pulses between the sensed leading edge and sensed trailing edge of the splice is used to indicate and determine the total splice width.

摘要: A method of measuring the length of a lap joint between sheets of material comprises the steps of transporting the sheets over a first roll and under a second roll. The rolls are a fixed distance apart. A first signal is generated when a second end of a first sheet passes a first measuring point which is located above the first roll. A second signal is generated when a first end of the second sheet passes a second measuring point which is located under the second roll. The number of revolutions of the first roll between the first and second signal are counted by a rotary encoder associated with the first roll. By comparing the actual number of pulses counted by the rotary encoder with a reference number of pulses which is determined by the number of the rotations of the first roll necessary to transport a given point from the measuring point above the first roll to the measuring point below the second roll, a length of a lap joint can be calculated. The calculation requires the subtracting of the actual number of pulses from the reference number of pulses, and converting the difference in pulses to a length measurement. An apparatus for carrying out the method comprises first, second and third rolls. At least one of the rolls has a rotary encoder associated therewith. A first sensor is located above the first roll and a second sensor is located below the second roll.

摘要: A host apparatus collects the physical or chemical quantities of articles, which have been measured by a plurality of measuring devices, for example, vernier calipers. Each calipers has a caliper unit as a measuring means, a dip-switch, a CPU, a RAM, and a transmitter. The caliper unit has an analog-to-digital (A/D) converter. The dip-switch is operated, thus setting an ID number of the device, before the device is used. The ID number is stored into the RAM. When the transmission button of the device is pushed, the CPU edits the digital value supplied from A/D converter and the ID number stored in the RAM, thereby forming a serial-data message. This message is transmitted by a transmitter, in the form of a radio message. The host apparatus has a receiver and a host computer. The receiver received the serial-data messages transmitted from the measuring devices. The host computer collects the values measured by the devices and contained in the serial-data messages, in accordance with the ID numbers also contained in the serial-data messages.

摘要: Displacement between two signals on a record media is precisely measured by counting the number of capstan tachometer signals occurring between the two signals. This count is time metered per tachometer cycle to calculate an average velocity. In addition, elapsed times between immediately adjacent tachometer signal changes and the signals are measured. The average velocity per tachometer cycle is then multiplied by the total number of tachometer cycles and those portions of a tachometer cycle occurring adjacent the signals. With the known distance per tachometer cycle, the total elapsed time is a precise indication of the distance between the two signals. This method is also used for measuring media slip. Upon occurrence of a first signal, the media is stopped. After stopping, the media is started, all the while measuring the distance the media is moved. Distance measured at a constant velocity is then compared with the latter measurement to indicate slip.
