During one circulation of the chain (1), the number (NS2) of signals at the second signal pick-up (5) is counted, which are produced before a first signal is produced at the first signal pick-up (4).

    摘要: The tracking signal generating device disclosed herein is adapted to be utilized between successive conveying sections in which articles are transported at a nominal height. A resilient suspension supports an elongate roller so that it projects above the nominal height of the conveying sections in the absence of an article being transported, but is deflected downwardly by the passage of an article from one section to the next. A sensor responsive to the downward deflection provides a signal indicating the presence of an article and an encoder driven by rotation of the roller generates signals indicating the length of an article passing the device.

    摘要: A method monitors the length of sheets, such as banknotes, passing a predetermined position. The length of a sheet is monitored at two laterally spaced locations, and the difference between the monitored lengths is compared. If the difference is small, this indicates that both monitored lengths are an accurate indication of the length of the sheet. An average of the two monitored lengths is determined and compared with at least one predetermined reference value to determine the acceptability of the sheet. If the average falls within a predetermined range, the sheet is acceptable.

The method allows for the correction of the measurement from a slipping encoder wheel without corrupting the measurement from the non-slipping encoder wheel.The method comprises incrementing corresponding depth counters whenever a pulse is produced by one of the encoder wheels. The depth counts are compared and if a significant difference exists, the value of the counter corresponding to the slipping encoder wheel is set equal to the value or the other wheel.

    摘要: The yarn (31) is fed substantially tangentially from a feed station (30) to the feed end (101) of an accumulator roller (10) of a yarn accumulator (1), drivable by a rotary drive means (120). The yarn is dischargeable from an exit end (103) of this accumulator roller (10) counter to the action of a restraining element (14) through a yarn guide means (4) arranged in prolongation of the axis (122) of the accumulator roller. The restraining element (14) is of radially outwardly open construction and is formed by a yarn restraining ring drivable relative to the accumulator roller (10). The ring includes a radially outwardly open yarn restrainer (141). The yarn guide means (4) consists of two mutually separable yarn guide components (40, 41) and is constructed as a yarn conveyor which deflects the yarn (31) out of a prescribed yarn path (32) into a yarn path intersecting the path of the revolving yarn restrainer (141). In order to measure the yarn length accumulated on the accumulator roller (10), the yarn-revolution monitoring-device (50) and a device (23) to determine the yarn rotation direction are associated with the accumulator roller (10), both of which are associated for control with an impulse counter (5). This impulse counter (5) is switchable from forward counting to backward counting or vice versa as a function of a change in the yarn rotation direction.

The calibration constant count is automatically determined and updated to compensate for changes in measuring roll diameter by engaging the strip with a calibration roll of accurately known diameter, accurately measuring one foot of strip by counting the pulses from a pulse tachometer driven by the calibration roll when the strip is at running speed so no slippage can occur, in a downcounter preset to a calibration setpoint count representing one foot of movement of the circumference of the calibration roll, accumulating the pulses from the measuring roll tachometer in a measuring roll upcounter while the calibration roll downcounter is counting backward to zero to measure one foot of strip, and transferring the count accumulated in the measuring roll upcounter during movement of one foot of strip to the storage register so that the footage counter is preset to the updated roll diameter compensation factor calibration count.
