Abstract:
A method includes a step of reading in the radio data signal and a radio data clock signal, a step of integrating a signal that is a function of the radio data signal and/or the radio data clock signal in order to determine an integral value curve, a step of decoding radio data signal information from the integral value curve, using the radio data clock signal and/or a phase position of the radio data signal, a step of ascertaining radio data signal quality information which represents the credibility of the decoded radio data signal information, using the radio data signal and/or the phase position of the radio data signal, and a step of providing the radio data signal information and the radio data signal quality information in order to provide a conditioned radio data signal.
Abstract:
Embodiments of methods and systems for reception improvement of FM tuners are provided. An example method according to the disclosure includes receiving one or more FM broadcast signals in a common channel (Co-C) situation and provides for receiving one or more FM broadcast signals, selecting a preferred signal and outputting said signal as an IF signal. When a Co-C situation occurs, the method calculates a correlation of the one or more signals and outputs the signal showing a larger consistency value.
Abstract:
A broadcast response system provides, e.g., a radio broadcast listener with the ability to obtain media content such as music or speech while listening to the radio. The user can respond to items in the radio broadcast such as advertisements, fund raising drives, or interactive listener polls during the broadcast. Data such as song title and artist, author or publisher and the IP address for the location where the digital version of the content is stored, can be transmitted using, e.g., the RBDS/RDS data stream. A reference number representing song title and artist, author or publisher and the IP address for the location where the digital version of the content is stored can also be employed for ease of implementation. This reference number can reside in a lookup table to be accessed by broadcast response server.
Abstract:
Radio broadcasting equipment along with a system design that provides specified booster transmitter locations, control and adjustment of transmitter power levels, analysis and provisioning of optimized antenna heights and antenna azimuths is provided that enables filling a dead zone in a radio broadcast area with a radio signal synchronized with the main transmitter(s) signal, wherein the radio broadcasting equipment includes a plurality of booster transmitters transmitting at a cumulative power level much higher than that of the main transmitter in the dead zone to which the plurality of booster transmitters are dedicated.
Abstract:
A computer system receives information snippets from a mobile device. The information snippets are extracted from a simulcast of a data stream of a radio broadcast received on the mobile device. The system identifies content metadata from the information snippets. The content metadata describes one or more features of the radio broadcast. The system selects a radio station from a radio station repository based on attributes of the radio station. One of the selection criteria is that the attributes of the radio station match at least a portion of the content metadata. The system presents a reference to the radio station to the mobile device as a recommendation.
Abstract:
A personal media device including a broadcast receiver that receives broadcast media and broadcast media data from a broadcast source where the broadcast media data includes a media identifier associated with the broadcast media. The media device also includes a data transceiver that sends a retrieval request to a media server for enhanced media data where the retrieval request includes the media identifier and receives the enhanced media data via a wireless data channel. The media device further includes a processor that performs a media device operation in response to the received enhanced media data.
Abstract:
Apparatus comprises means for storing a table including plural program identification codes and, for each program identification code, a corresponding program name; means for extracting a program identification code from supplementary information received along with a radio broadcast; means for searching the table for the decoded program identification code; means for reading from the table a program name that corresponds to the program identification code; and means for causing the program name to be displayed.

Abstract:
A host system for downloading one or more Radio Data System (RDS) group type processing routines for RDS data includes a data processor and a host processor. The host processor is configured to download one or more RDS group type processing routines for the data processor, each of the one or more RDS group type processing routines configured to process RDS data for a respective RDS group type. The host processor is further configured to assign a reference in the data processor to a corresponding one of the one or more RDS group type processing routines, so that the corresponding RDS group type processing routine is to be invoked by RDS data having the respective RDS group type. A method is also provided for downloading one or more RDS group type processing routines for RDS data.
