摘要: A content delivery server is configured to receive a request for a chunk of a segment of a video stream, the segment of the video stream including a series of chunks, each of the chunks including a set of video frames, a first of the chunks being aligned with a first Instantaneous Decoder Refresh frame in the video stream, and a second of the chunks being aligned with a second subsequent Instantaneous Decoder Refresh frame in the video stream; determine whether the request was received during a first interval or a second subsequent interval of an intra period between the first of the chunks and the second of the chunks; and output the first of the chunks or the second of the chunks for transmission based on the determination of whether the request was received during the first interval or the second interval.

摘要: Techniques for output frame correction for unstable video streams are described herein. A video item may be transmitted via an input video stream from a first entity to a second entity over one or more electronic communications networks. The incoming frames from the input video stream may then be used, by the second entity, to generate an output video stream for presentation to one or more viewers. The transmission of the input video stream may temporarily become unstable and may be interrupted such that one or more frames of the input video stream are delayed and/or lost. When a transmission interruption is detected, the output video stream may be adjusted by inserting one or more correction frames into the output video stream. The inserted correction frames may include one or more repetitions of one or more prior frames in the output video stream and/or one or more interpolated frames.

摘要: One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for transmitting a digital content stream through a network between at least one content server and a content player. The method includes communicating with the at least one content server to set up a plurality of parallel network connections on the network to transmit the digital content stream. The method further includes sending a first data request and a second data request within a first time limit via at least one tested network connection in the plurality of parallel network connections to evaluate whether pipelining of the digital content stream is possible for the at least one tested network connection. The method also includes utilizing pipelining to transmit the digital content stream over the at least one tested network connection based on a first response to the first data request and a second response to the second data request.

摘要: Streaming media, such as audio or video files, is sent via the Internet. The media are immediately played on a user's computer. Audio/video data is transmitted from the server under control of a transport mechanism. A server buffer is prefilled with a predetermined amount of the audio/video data. When the transport mechanism causes data to be sent to the user's computer, it is sent more rapidly than it is played out by the user system. The audio/video data in the user buffer accumulates; and interruptions in playback as well as temporary modem delays are avoided.

The method further includes detecting a channel change request from the first channel to a second channel. The method also includes storing user history data at a media device. The method includes providing, to a display device, second media content of a received second data stream corresponding to the second channel. The method further includes, in response to detecting a second channel change request to return to the first channel, providing to a display device, the first media content of the first data stream beginning from a location of the first media content indicated by the user history data.

摘要: A video encoding device (e.g., a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU)) may transmit an encoded frame with a frame sequence number using a transmission protocol. The video encoding device, an application on the video encoding device, and/or a protocol layer on the encoding device may detect a packet loss by receiving an error notification. The packet loss may be detected at the MAC layer. The packet loss may be signaled using spoofed packets, such as a spoofed NACK packet, a spoofed XR packet, or a spoofed ACK packet. A lost packet may be retransmitted at the MAC layer (e.g., by the encoding device or another device on the wireless path). Packet loss detection may be performed in uplink operations and/or downlink operations, and/or may be performed in video gaining applications via the cloud. The video encoding device may generate and send a second encoded frame based on the error notification.
