Abstract:
A method is provided for associating a sticker and an object in a computer system. The object is stored in an object repository in the computer system and the object is of a type selected from a range of object types. The sticker has coded data indicative of a sticker identity and the object type. The method provides a sensing device for sensing the coded data when placed in an operative position relative to the sticker and generating indicating data that is indicative of the identity of the sticker and the object type. The indicating data is received in the computer system from the sensing device. The sticker, the object type and the object are identified so that an association between the sticker identity and the object is generated. When the object repository is empty, the computer system indicates that the association cannot be generated. The computer system is configured to initiate an action regarding the object in response to the sensing device being placed in an operative position relative to the sticker.
Abstract:
A method of generating an association between a sticker and an object of an object type, the sticker having disposed therein or thereon coded data at least partially indicative of a sticker identity and the object type, the method including, in a computer system: receiving indicating data from a sensing device, the indicating data being at least partially indicative of the identity of the sticker and the object type, the sensing device, when placed in an operative position relative to the sticker, being responsive to sense at least some of the coded data and generate the indicating data using the sensed coded data; identifying, using the indicating data, the identity of the sticker, the object type and the object of the object type; and, generating an association based at least partially on the sticker identity and the object.
Abstract:
An information processing apparatus includes an acquisition unit configured to acquire restriction information about imaging functions from an imaging device connected to a network, a setting control unit configured to display a setting window in which after a parameter for one imaging function is selected, selectable parameters for other imaging functions are restricted in accordance with the selected parameter on the basis of the restriction information so that the imaging functions to be used are selected, and an information processing unit configured to acquire image information about an image captured using the selected imaging functions via the network.
Abstract:
An imaging apparatus capable of outputting a sensed image to a printing apparatus determines the type of PD printer apparatus connected via an interface, and selects the type of image data to be output to the PD printer apparatus on the basis of the determination result. The imaging apparatus directly transmits a JPEG code for a predetermined PD printer apparatus, or decodes and transmits the JPEG code for another printer apparatus.
Abstract:
An image processing apparatus capable of being remotely controlled by an information processing apparatus via a network includes a request transmission unit configured to transmit a remote control request to the information processing apparatus via the network, a detection unit configured to receive changing information for changing a setting value for the image processing apparatus from the information processing apparatus via the network and detect a content of the change of the setting value based on the changing information, and a display unit configured to display a message for prompting an operator of the image processing apparatus to determine whether to permit changing of the setting value according to the content of the change of the setting value detected by the detection unit.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus, a client PC, and a thin client PC are connected to a server device via a network. The client PC, or the thin client PC, transmits a printing instruction to the server device and the server device transmits the printing instruction to the image forming apparatus. In a thin client environment, a network between the server device and the image forming apparatus can be a narrowband network. Therefore, the server device compresses the whole printing instruction and then transmits the compressed printing instruction to the image forming apparatus.
Abstract:
An image processing apparatus includes an input unit configured to input image data and is communicably connected to an external apparatus via a network, wherein a document with a predetermined form is obtained from the external apparatus via the network and a screen based on the document obtained by the obtaining unit is displayed. Image data input by the input unit according to instructions from a user via the screen displayed with the display unit is transmitted. At this time, determination is made regarding the size of image data that can be processed by the transmission destination of the image data, and based on the determination results thereof, control is performed such that the image data according to the size of image data that can be processed by the transmission destination is input by the input unit.
Abstract:
An information processing system in which a plurality of image input/output apparatus can communicate with one another via a communication medium is provided. The information processing system includes a transfer unit configured to transfer a job from a first image input/output apparatus to a second image input/output apparatus; and a generating unit configured to generate a job handle used to identify a job on the first image input/output apparatus from the second image input/output apparatus, the job handle allowing the job to be manipulated. When the job is to be transferred by the transfer unit, the job handle generated by the generating unit is transmitted from the first image input/output apparatus to the second image input/output apparatus before the transfer of the job.
Abstract:
A data transmission apparatus capable of transmitting image data to a recipient using recipient's desired transmission parameters regardless of whether the recipient resides inside or outside an intranet to which the apparatus is connected, wherein the recipient is requested via an e-mail to designate the desired transmission parameters through the most appropriate transmission medium that is set in consideration of the recipient's location. Specifically, the transmission medium is set to a Web browser if the recipient resides inside the intranet to which the apparatus is connected, while it is set to an e-mail if the recipient resides outside the intranet.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus including a network interface unit to connect to a terminal, and an IP management unit to control the network interface unit to set a new IP address to be a main IP address and set the current IP address to be a sub IP address, if the current IP address is changed by the terminal. A user may use the printing operation of the image forming apparatus conveniently even when the IP address of the image forming apparatus is changed.
