Abstract:
A method is proposed for automatically updating and maintaining contact information for various contacts stored in a contact database without requiring an individual to manually update their contacts by using an automated reply process for the maintaining of contact information, as well as only requiring one individual to be a member of the service. Updating of the contacts with the automated reply process installed is more frequent.
Abstract:
In order to achieve image direct-forming from a scanner to a printer, an image forming system is provided with an image forming apparatus, a host apparatus, a selecting unit and a scanner. The host apparatus stores image forming control data and programs set according to the type of the printer, and outputs them at a given time event. The selecting unit is used to select an image direct-forming mode from a plurality of image forming modes. The scanner reads image information on an object and generates image data. The scanner includes a rewritable nonvolatile memory having a storage capacity enough to store one of the control data or program associated with at least one type of the printer, and a control unit for storing, into the memory, at least one of the control data or program outputted from the host apparatus. The control unit further processes the image data according to at least one of the control data or program when the image direct-forming mode is selected, and outputs the processed image data to the printer.
Abstract:
A digital still camera capable of telecommunication includes a converting device which converts an optical image into a digital electronic signal indicative of a still image, a memory which stores at least one specific telephone number, a modifying unit which modifies the digital electronic signal indicative of the still image into an electronic signal containing a still image signal generated in accordance with a wireless telephone system, a reducing device which reduces a number of pixels of the still image converted by the converting device to form a still image of fewer pixels contained in the electronic signal, a transmitter which transmits the electronic signal containing the still image signal modified by the modifying unit, and a controller which inhibits the reducing device when the telephone number designating the remote device coincides with the specific telephone number, whereby the reducing device forms a still image signal contained in the electronic signal without reducing the number of pixels of the still image converted by the converting device.
Abstract:
Pixel information and control information transmitted by a facsimile machine 1a is received by a procedure controlling circuit 13 having a MODEM 13a for facsimile machines. A facsimile procedure controller 14 decodes the pixel information and the control information. A connection/transfer controller 15 edits the decoded information and produces a control packet and a pixel packet. The control packet and the pixel packet are output to a local area network (LAN) 4 via a LAN controller 17 and a LAN control circuit 18. When receiving a facsimile, the control packet signal transmitted via the LAN 4 is converted into pixel control information by the connection/transfer controller 15, and the pixel control information is supplied to the facsimile procedure controller 14. The connection/transfer controller 15 also converts the received pixel packet signal into pixel information. The pixel information is temporarily stored in a memory 16. When a predetermined amount of pixel information is accumulated in the memory 16, said predetermined amount of pixel information is supplied to the facsimile procedure controller 14, and finally transmitted to the facsimile machine 1a via the procedure control circuit 13.
Abstract:
The communication cost for image information transmission from a facsimile machine connected to the international PSTN to an overseas destination is significantly reduced by causing a first repeater Internet facsimile machine installed in the same country as the transmitting machine to perform a repeater operation for transferring the image information to a second repeater Internet facsimile machine installed in the same country as the recipient machine. The cost is reduced because no additional communication charge is incurred for the image information transfer between the repeater Internet facsimile machines.
Abstract:
In the case where received e-mail data can not be printed, e-mail control section 33 transfers the received e-mail data to another information terminal device. And facsimile control section 34 instructs facsimile section 27 to print an error message including sender information and an attached file format. And indication control section 35 starts up indication section 29.
Abstract:
A system (500) that provides facsimile service over a digital subscriber line (502) has a facsimile machine (504) coupled to an ATM switch (506). The ATM switch (506) is coupled to the digital subscriber line (502), wherein the digital subscriber line (502) includes a first virtual circuit and a second virtual circuit. An interworking unit (508) is coupled to the second virtual circuit. The second virtual circuit is connected to the facsimile machine (512). A public switched telephone network (510) is connected to the interworking unit (508). A facsimile machine (512) is connected to the public switched telephone network (510).
Abstract:
A process for use in an electronic camera generates a digital image signal corresponding to an image incident on an image pick-up unit of the camera, formats the digital image signal in one of a plurality of computer image file formats and stores the formatted image file in a storage device of the camera.
Abstract:
A FAX-through data network includes a receiver side LAN end station and a sender side LAN end station. A first converter receives a FAX communication from the sender FAX and generates a FAX packet. The FAX packet includes a receiver FAX-network ID. A FAX-network server receives the FAX packet, extracts the receiver FAX-network ID, performs a lookup of a destination IP address in a mapping table and forwards the FAX packet to the destination IP address. Multiple mapping tables can be distributed in a hierarchical fashion, allowing querying and updating of multiple lookup tables as needed. A second converter intercepts and identifies the FAX packet, extracts the FAX communication from the FAX packet, establish a communication with the receiver FAX without routing a signal through the PSTN and transmits the FAX communication to the receiver FAX machine. A remote access appliance control apparatus includes an appliance side LAN end station. An appliance control packet is generated by the remote network user and includes an appliance network ID and the control command. An appliance network server receives the appliance control packet, extracts the appliance network ID, looks-up a corresponding destination IP address in a mapping table, and forwards the appliance control packet to the destination IP address. Multiple mapping tables can be distributed in a hierarchical fashion, allowing querying and updating of multiple lookup tables as needed. An appliance converter intercepts and identifies the appliance control packet, extracts the control command and asserts the control command to the appliance using the appliance communication protocol. Advantages include the ability to share the IP address of a LAN end station. The invention also eliminates local and long distance toll cost charge for FAX communication, reduces latency and controls bandwidth.
