    Abstract: An item of clothing in the form of a jacket provides enhanced visibility for a cyclist. A right detection device is configured to identify a raising of a right arm and a right indictor light (103) is configured to indicate in response to the raising of the right arm. Similarly, a left detection device is configured to identify the raising of a left arm and a left indicator light 104 is configured to indicate in response to the raising of the left arm. A housing contains a power supply and a control circuit and a pocket is provided in the jacket for supporting the housing. Wires extend from the housing to the detection devices and indicators and these wires are restrained within seams used to construct the jacket.

    Abstract: Technology devices may be concealed in and outside of conduit's in clothing and accessories. To that end, described herein, are releasable couplers and tube assemblies that can be affixed to clothing and other accessories for safe concealment of technology devices and accessories and to avoid strangulation and other accidental harm should an accessory get snagged, caught, or pulled. The releasable coupler and releasable tube assemblies will “break-away” from each other or the component or accessory they are attached to when undo pressure is applied. The integration of the releasable coupler and the releasable tube assembly allow one to imbibe inconspicuously and safely. The releasable coupler and releasable tube assemblies also allow for easy removal for cleaning and maintenance purposes.

    Abstract: An item of clothing has a strip 502 of a reflective tape surrounded by florescent material. Embedded light-emitting devices 113 are connected to a loom of power and data cables and are supported on a flexible printed circuit board 101. Respective windows 1213 are provided for each light-emitting device, in which a hole cut through the reflective tape is covered by a clear plastics material having a first flap 1203 and a second flap 1204. The first flap is folded around the flexible printed circuit board and is secured by the second flap being further folded around the first flap. The clear plastics material is secured to the clothing fabric by an adhesive film 701 through which the holes have also been cut.

    Abstract: A woven fabric formed of a first set of yarns extending in a first direction, woven together with a second set of yarns extending in a second direction. The first set includes first conductors, while the second set includes second conductors. The first and second conductors cross over one another at crossing points. At each crossing point, a non-conductive element is disposed directly between the first and second conductors so as to provide a physical barrier between the first and second conductors. At some crossing points, a physical electrical connection is provided between crossing conductors in order to provide a permanent connection between the conductors. Non-conductive tie yarns are provided to fix the conductors in position. The structure provides a robust yarn with minimized risk of short circuiting between crossing conductors which are intended to be kept separate.

    Abstract: A garment includes a flexible layer of material configured to fit a contour of a body, a first length of an electro illuminating (EL) wire assembly is coupled to the flexible layer. The EL wire assembly includes a tubular sheath at least partially surrounding a second length of an EL wire. The tubular sheath includes a hollow interior and a water resistant outer surface. The outer surface includes one or more attachment tabs extending away from the outer surface. The EL wire assembly is attached to the garment via the one or more attachment tabs. A battery pack includes an electrical energy storage device electrically coupled to the EL wire assembly.

    Abstract: A knitted element may include at least three zones. The first zone may include terry loop knitting. The second zone may include mesh knitting. The third zone may include jersey knitting. The knitted element may include at least one seamless transition between the first zone and the second zone, or between the first zone and the third zone so that terry loop knitting is continuous with either the mesh knitting or the jersey knitting. The first zone, the second zone, and the third zone may each include wool knitting. The terry loop knitting may be adapted to provide warmth in areas where it is needed, while the mesh knitting may be adapted to provide breathability in areas where it is needed. The jersey knitting may provide an intermediate level of warmth and breathability.

    Abstract: Thermal garments with reduced weight and bulk and improved packability include targeted zones of increased thermal resistive properties. Such garments may include: (a) a first garment region extending along a central back portion of the garment from the waist area of the garment to the neck area; (b) second and third garment regions extending along the sides of the garment from the waist area to the underarm area; and (c) a fourth garment region extending between the first and second garment regions, between the first and third garment regions, and between the second and third garment regions. The fourth garment region includes a thermal material having a lower thermal resistive value than the thermal resistive values of the thermal materials associated with the first, second, and third garment regions. Methods of making such garments also are described.
