about 0.1 to about 0.3 Cu
about 0.3 to about 0.7 V + 5/9 × Nb
about 0.2 to about 0.5 The balance of the alloy is iron, usual impurities, and residual amounts of other elements added during melting for deoxidizing and/or desulfurizing the alloy. A hardened and tempered steel article made from the alloy is also disclosed.-

Abstract: Methods for forming carbon-based lubricious and/or wear-protective films in situ on the surface of steel alloys are provided. The methods use chromium-containing steel alloys, molybdenum-containing steel alloys, and steel alloys that contain both copper and nickel. When such alloys are subjected to a rubbing motion in the presence of a hydrocarbon fluid, the chromium, molybdenum, copper, and nickel in the steel alloy catalyzes the formation of solid carbon-containing films that reduce the friction, wear, or both of the contacting surfaces.

Abstract: Disclosed are a steel with controlled steel ratio and a manufacturing method therefor. The steel comprises the following components in percentage by mass: C: 0.245-0.365%, Si: 0.10-0.80%, Mn: 0.20-2.00%, P:≤0.015%, S:≤0.003%, Cr: 0.20-2.50%, Mo: 0.10-0.90%, Nb: 0-0.08%, Ni: 2.30-4.20%, Cu: 0-0.30%, V: 0.01-0.13%, B: 0-0.0020%, Al: 0.01-0.06%, Ti: 0-0.05%, Ca:≤0.004%, H:≤0.0002%, N:≤0.013%, O:≤0.0020%, and the balance of Fe and inevitable impurities, wherein the components satisfy (8.57*C+1.12*Ni)≥4.8% and 1.2%≤(1.08*Mn+2.13*Cr)≤5.6%. The steel has excellent low-temperature impact toughness and aging impact toughness at −20° C. and −40° C., a rationally controlled yield ratio, and ultra-high strength, ultra-high toughness, and ultra-high plasticity, which can be used in applications such as offshore platform mooring chains, mechanical structures, and automobiles that require high strength and toughness of the steel.

Abstract: A method of quenching a press hardenable steel is provided. The method includes an initial step of die quenching a part stamped within a stamping die followed by a partial quenching after the initial step of die quenching. In various methods, the press hardenable steel is a 36MnB5 grade steel and/or the initial step of die quenching is performed at a temperature of approximately 200° C.±10° C. in a die configured for 36MnB5 grade steel. At least one method further includes opening the die followed by the partial quenching, the partial quenching comprising spraying a cooling liquid onto the part to reduce a temperature of the part below approximately 130° C.±10° C., with the option of spraying to reduce the temperature of the part below approximately 100° C.±10° C.

The microstructure of the sucker rod steel is tempered martensite and nanoscale precipitates. The grain size is higher than grade 10, the tensile strength is 920˜1320 Mpa, and the AKU2 impact energy is greater than or equal to 180 J.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing of steel articles comprises nitriding (210) a steel article at a nitrification temperature in the interval 350-650° C., giving a nitrided steel article. The nitrided steel article is quenched (220) in a reactive quenching oil from the nitrification temperature. The reactive quenching oil comprises at least one of S, P, B, Mo and W. Thereby, the quenching additionally comprises coating (222) of the nitrided steel article by a solid lubricant comprising at least one of S, P, B, Mo and W. An apparatus for manufacturing of steel articles, a quenching oil and a steel article produced by the method are also disclosed.

Abstract: Methods for use in the manufacture or assembly of an electrical feedthrough to provide a solution to the technical and operational challenges that may arise from use of a high-CTE metal/low-CTE sealing material based assembly or package. In some embodiments, the inventive method includes a thermal tempering and thermal quenching process that is used to create an interfacial layer of the sealing material in which there exists a CTE gradient from sealing material to the metal shell and pin(s). This enables the production of an electrical feedthrough assembly that can tolerate high-CTE mismatch induced mechanical stress over a wide operating temperature range.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a hydraulic hammer using a male gauge and a female gauge is provided wherein the hammer comprises a body and a chuck housing that are connectable by cooperatively formed thread fittings. A cooperatively threaded male gauge and female gauge can be used to form the threads on the body and the chuck housing and to determine the rotational orientation of the body and the chuck housing relative to one another. One of the gauges can be used to measure distortion of the chuck housing caused by heat treatment subsequent to the formation of the thread fitting and thereby to determine the required subsequent machining of the chuck housing necessary to retain the appropriate relative rotational orientation when the chuck housing is connected to the body. The method can comprise the steps of making and appropriately marking the male gauge and the female gauge.
