摘要: A labyrinth seal for sealing a sealing region between a rotor and stator of a rotary machine includes, a base, and a plurality of sealing rings. The sealing rings are formed on the base, project into the sealing region and form, between them labyrinth valleys bounded, laterally, by the sealing rings and, in the floor of the valleys, by the base. The sealing rings, in at least one region, include at least one material which is different from that of the base.

摘要: The invention relates to a pump for pumping contaminated liquid comprising solid matter, the pump comprising a hydraulic unit (2), a drive unit (3), and a sealing unit (4), the hydraulic unit having a pump chamber (5) and an impeller (8) that is suspended in a drive shaft (9), said impeller and said drive shaft forming a rotatable unit, the sealing unit comprising a seal housing cover (15) that delimits said pump chamber (5) and that forms a seat for a drive shaft sealing assembly (16), the seal housing cover (15) comprising a first gap-delimiting part (20) and the rotatable unit comprising a second gap-delimiting part (21), which jointly define an axially extending gap (22) situated in the pump chamber. The pump is characterized in that, in each arbitrary radially extending plane taken through said gap (22), the first gap-delimiting part (20) has a broken circular outer gap-delimiting surface (23) at the same time as the second gap-delimiting part (21) has a broken circular inner gap-delimiting surface (24).

摘要: A seal assembly for a rotary machine is provided. The seal assembly includes multiple sealing device segments disposed circumferentially intermediate to a stationary housing and a rotor. Each of the segments includes a shoe plate with a forward-shoe section and an aft-shoe section having one or more labyrinth teeth therebetween facing the rotor. The sealing device includes a stator interface element having a groove or slot for allowing disposal of a spline seal for preventing segment leakages. The sealing device segment also includes multiple bellow springs or flexures connected to the shoe plate and to the stator interface element. Further, the sealing device segments include a secondary seal integrated with the stator interface element at one end and positioned about the multiple bellow springs or flexures and the shoe plate at the other end.

Aspects of the disclosure are directed to a method for designing a seal, comprising: obtaining a requirement associated with at least one of: a geometrical profile of the seal, a temperature range over which the seal is to operate, a natural frequency associated with the seal, or a range of deflection associated with the seal, selecting a crystalline orientation for a single crystal material of the seal based on the requirement, and fabricating the seal based on the selected crystalline orientation.

摘要: A plurality of concave portion to be spaced apart from each other in a circumferential direction through a pillar portion is formed in an inner circumferential side of a side surface of a seal ring mounted in a shaft groove formed in an outer circumferential surface of a shaft. The concave portion including a deepest portion, and two inclined portions, connects the inclined portion positioned at an opposite side in a rotational direction and the adjacent pillar portion with a curved surface having a shape convex, and further, makes a width in the circumferential direction of the inclined portion of the rotational direction side smaller than a width in the circumferential direction of the inclined portion of the opposite side in the rotational direction.

摘要: A seal arrangement for effecting a seal between first and second components arranged for relative rotation about a common axis. Seal arrangement includes a first seal surface associated with the first component, and a second seal surface associated with the second component. First and second seal surfaces are presented for air-riding interaction with one another during relative rotation between components such that, in use, a pressure drop is maintained across seal arrangement. First seal surface incorporates a plurality of spaced-apart hydrodynamic lift-generating features and plurality of ventilation recesses, each ventilation recess being interposed between respective pair of lift-generating features, and wherein each ventilation recess has depth measured normal to first seal surface which is greater than maximum dimension of each lift-generating feature measured normal to first seal surface. Seal arrangement may be embodied in compliant filament seal such as a leaf seal or a brush seal.

摘要: An illustrative embodiment of a shaft seal assembly generally includes a fixed stator, a floating stator, and a sealing member. In the illustrative embodiment the fixed stator may be formed with one or more fluid conduits that are in fluid communication with one or fluid conduits formed in the floating stator. The fluid conduits in the floating stator may be in fluid communication with one or more fluid conduits formed in a sealing member. A rotational interface may exist between the sealing member and a shaft, and the various fluid conduits may be configured to create a fluid barrier at that interface. Other embodiments of a shaft seal assembly may create a fluid barrier at a rotational interface between a rotor and a floating stator.

摘要: An apparatus adapted for use in a gas turbine engine includes a first circumferential member and a second circumferential member. The first circumferential member includes an end portion that defines a recess and includes a first seal surface. The second circumferential member includes an end portion that includes a second seal surface. The end portion of the second circumferential member is configured to be at least partially disposed in the recess of the first circumferential member to collectively form at least a portion of a circumferential assembly of a gas turbine. The first seal surface of the first circumferential member is forms a first seal with a seal member and the second seal surface of the second circumferential member is forms a second seal with the seal member when the end portion of the second circumferential member is disposed in the recess of the first circumferential member.
