摘要: A seal assembly is for sealing between a shaft and a body rotatable about an axis extending through the shaft and includes an annular elastomeric sealing member disposeable within the body bore and coupleable with the shaft. The sealing member has a centerline coaxial with the shaft axis and a radially-outwardly extending, generally annular lip sealingly engageable with an inner circumferential surface of the bore or of a member disposed within the bore so as to define a seal interface. The sealing lip is configured to displace fluid within the sealing interface generally axially out of the interface when the hub rotates about the shaft. Preferably, the sealing member is coupled with an inner casing and disposed within an outer casing, the seal lip sealing against the outer casing inner surface, and a second sealing lip is coupled with the outer casing and seals against the inner casing outer surface.

摘要: A bearing isolator seal provides enhanced coupling and stability of the rotor to the shaft, without undue seal enlargement, by including a plurality of drive O-rings in a common retention groove. In embodiments, the isolator seal accommodates axial rotor misalignment up to a maximum permitted axial misalignment, which can be at least 0.025″. Embodiments include a labyrinth passage between the rotor and the stator configured to expel fluid by centrifugal force. Embodiments include a shut off feature that takes advantage of axial misalignment. Some embodiments include a unitization feature that holds the rotor and stator together during assembly. The unitization feature can include chamfers on rotor and stator extensions that facilitate assembly and disassembly when sufficient force is applied.

摘要: A bearing isolator seal having a shut off O-ring is tolerant of axial rotor-stator misalignment and provides an enhanced static seal while minimizing rotational wear. A tapered section of the stator is overlapped by the shut off O-ring. When the rotor is static there is no axial misalignment, and the shut off O-ring is pressed against the tapered section, forming an enhanced seal. During rotor rotation, increased axial misalignment moves the O-ring away from the tapered section, reducing rotational wear. The stator can extend horizontally beyond the tapered section and below the O-ring, so that if the rotor moves beyond a maximum misalignment, there is a “line on line” fit between the stator and rotor. The bearing isolator seal can include labyrinth technology, and the tapered section can include a contour that allows the shutoff O-ring to drag along the surface of the tapered section with no hang-ups or binding.

摘要: In summary, the invention relates to a seal arrangement for non-contact sealing of anti-friction bearings, in particular for sealing anti-friction bearings in conveyors, machine tools, pumps, electric motors and the like. More specifically, the invention relates to an improvement of the arrangement of non-contact fluid-collecting labyrinth seals which perform a sealing function, such that firstly no lubricating oil can escape from the anti-friction bearing side and secondly no water and contaminant can enter from the atmosphere side. The seal arrangement of the invention consists of a three-piece pre-assembled labyrinth seal, of which at least one sealing element is arranged together with the surrounding, stationary machine part and at least one sealing element is arranged on a rotatable machine part. One core advantage of this invention consists in that, if the seal arrangement according to the invention is used, a satisfactory and effective sealing result is achieved despite somewhat severe surging flooding to the sealing elements which occurs.

摘要: A seal assembly for sealing a fluid passageway from contaminants is disclosed. The fluid passageway is formed by a rotating shaft entering an opening in a housing. The fluid passageway connects an interior of the housing, and any exterior of the housing. The seal assembly includes a first sealing member and a second sealing member, which divides the fluid passage into an interior section, an open section, and a sealed section. The interior section is exposed to the interior of the housing. The sealed section is fluidly sealed between the interior section and the open section. A sensor is disposed within the sealed section. The sensor is configured to sense the contaminants within the sealed section and is electronically coupled to a controller configured to send an alarm signal. The sensor is a moisture sensor and extends into an annular recess formed in the stationary member.

摘要: A labyrinth sealing device is disclosed for use between a rotating shaft and a bearing housing. In some embodiments, an internal stator engages the housing and a rotor engages the shaft. A labyrinth pathway is defined between the rotor and stator to prevent the migration of lubricants and/or contaminants in either direction. The rotor acts as a running surface for the sealing element, but may also with a ground surface of the rotor to provide a pump that continuously draws lubricant away from the sealing lip toward a sump. In another embodiment, the stator and sealing element are combined as a single element formed from a sealing material. A recess in the sealing lip creates a pressure differential at the sealing surface and minimizes wear.
