    摘要: As seal assembly for a ram assembly is provided. An elongated ram extends through the seal assembly. The seal assembly includes a housing body, a plurality of seals and a retaining, and compression, device. The seals, as well as a male energizer and a female energizer, each have a split body. In this configuration, the seals and energizers may be replaced without removing the seal assembly housing body and retaining device from about the ram. This further allows for the ram to remain in place during seal replacement. That is, the split seals may be separated an placed about the ram. Once in place, the ends of the split seal are joined at an interface. The retaining/compression device compresses the seals so that the interface is sealed.

    摘要: A self-aligning stuffing box having a spherical joint between the upper and lower portions of the housing permits universal movement of the upper portion relative to the lower portion to permit a rod to pass through the bore if the axis of the rod is misaligned relative to the axis of the bore in each of the upper and lower housing portions. An energized seal in the upper housing resides at or below the spherical joint due to a downwardly depending central portion of the upper housing which extends into a recess formed in the lower housing permitting the height of the stuffing box to be relatively short. A second seal is positioned above the first seal and may be spaced sufficiently above the first seal to permit a flapper valve to be installed between the seals. The flapper valve is mounted through a port in the upper housing which is accessible without disassembly of the stuffing box, the seals or the wellhead.

The guide prevents any misalignment of rod (11) damaging a seal, e.g. a stuffing box, held in space (24). Guide element (18) has central portion (19) and annular flange (25). Element (18) can move laterally with respect to housing (12) and can also pivot, along with the cap (15) of the housing (12), with respect to the lower portion (14) thereof. The latter is achieved via movements of part-spherical bearing element (28) and similarly shaped faces (26, 37, 38) of housing 9120. Further seals (33, 34) prevents entry of pumped fluid into chamber (13).

This shaft seal apparatus has gland packings (2) stuffed in a sealed space (10) formed between a rotating shaft (9) and a stuffing box (1), with gland packings (2) pressed between a first packing gland (3) on a sealed liquid region side (7) and a second packing gland (4) on an atmospheric region side (8). The first packing gland (3) is fixed to a rotary equipment body (6) and the second packing gland (4) is to the stuffing box (1). A screw bolt (15) extending in the axial direction of the rotating shaft (9) is anchored to the first packing gland (3). The stuffing box (1) is provided with a through hole (16) larger than the screw bolt (15) in the flange (1a). The screw bolt (15) running through the through hole (16) has a tightening nut (17) thereon at a place which is out of and backward of the hole (16). A compression coil spring (18) is mounted on screw bolt (15) between flange (1a) and tightening nut (17).

    摘要: A self aligning stuffing box for a pumpjack unit of the type having a polished rod reciprocatingly extending therethrough and downhole to a pump located at the lower end of a borehole. The stuffing box has a main body that terminates in a tubing adaptor at the lower end thereof by which it can be mounted to the upper end of the tubing of a wellhead. The main body has an annular seal assembly that includes a pressure set seal pack for sealingly engaging the polished rod. The polished rod reciprocatingly extends through the seal assembly and main body. The seal assembly moves within the main body radially of the passageway to align the polished rod with the production tubing of the wellhead. A lower end of the seal assembly includes a compression piston which is moved in proportion to the well tubing pressure, and thereby compresses the seal of the seal pack so that the seal pack is always properly adjusted.
