Abstract:
A system for improving carbonation in post-mix beverage dispenser carbonators, including the method of automatically venting the headspace in a carbonator tank to atmosphere at predetermined times and for a predetermined length of time. This system eliminates most of the air from the headspace and provides a significant improvement in carbonating efficiency, in-line carbonation and in cup carbonation.
Abstract:
A data acquisition and processing system for a post-mix drink dispenser which automatically determines and correlates the number, size and flavor of drinks poured from a plurality of valve assemblies to specific periods of time within a given day or week of a period of interest, and correlates the actual volume of syrup and water dispensed for the same period.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a detection and display device for automatic service expresso coffee machine which automatically outputs and displays water or ground coffee doses according to the capacity of the filter-holder bowl engaged on the bowl-holder of the coffee machine.Detection and display are obtained by means of an actuator-detector system generating electric signals, such as one or more magnetic elements (5) mounted on filter-holder bowl (1) and a Hall effect detector (A) mounted on bowl-holder (11) of the coffee grinder or coffee machine.
Abstract:
A device for the distribution of cartridges containing ingredients for the preparation of a beverage has a housing, a cavity, a distribution tube and a delivery tube. The device also has a pivoting spring lever, and a retaining system which has a triangular shape attached to the lever on either side of the pivot.
Abstract:
A beverage brewing apparatus for use in vending machines has an open top and open bottom cylinder that is vertically movably supported by a frame on rods. A piston is also vertically movably supported by the rods and is normally pushed upwardly by coil springs disposed surrounding the rods. Bias springs are disposed between the frame and cylinder to push the cylinder dowardly whereby the sealing situation between the cylinder and brewing cavity is assured during progress of the brewing operation within the apparatus.
Abstract:
A manually-refillable water reservoir assembly, which may be retrofit to a post-mix beverage dispenser to supply water from the reservoir instead of from a commercial water supply, includes a manually-refillable water container which plugs into a base assembly. The base assembly includes a socket for receiving the container, a centrifugal pump and a water filter. The beverage dispenser contains a turbine-type pump for supplying water to a carbonator at a predetermined pressure and flow rate. The inherent slippage in the centrifugal pump permits the flow rate and pressure of water supplied to the dispenser to adjust to that of the turbine-type pump.
Abstract:
Beverage brewing apparatus suitable for use in a vending machine has a frame supporting a vertically movable open bottom cylinder and a piston slidably disposed within the cylinder. A brewing cavity is disposed beneath the cylinder to enable reciprocation horizontally between a brewing position and a rest position. The horizontal movement of the cavity is controlled through a cable running around a pulley rotatably supported on the frame. The pulley is provided with a mechanism for adjusting the position thereof to determine the brewing position and rest position of the cavity to ensure secure engagement between the cylinder and brewing cavity.
Abstract:
A dual temperature beverage dispenser for providing a variety of beverages, both hot and cool from a small, high capacity, coin-activated unit. The dispenser includes a removable operating module which can be stored for safekeeping separate and apart from a water storage unit which becomes inoperative when the operating module is removed. The water storage unit includes a hot water heater including a tank and a storage tank for ambient water oriented above the hot water heater tank for gravity flow of ambient water to the hot water heater tank when required and for gravity flow to a discharge point in the operating module to enable ambient or cool water to be obtained without payment or beverage to be obtained from the dispenser by use of an appropriate coin or token. The water discharge assembly includes a screen in a projecting nipple which automatically couples and uncouples with the operating module when it is installed on or removed from the water storage unit to prevent drippage when the operating module is removed and also the operating module includes a coin control and rejection system to assure proper payment for a beverage dispensed from the dispenser.
Abstract:
A beverage brewing apparatus suitable for use in a vending machine has a frame supporting a vertically movable open-bottom cylinder and a piston slidably disposed within the cylinder. A base assembly is reciprocal horizontally between a brewing position and rest position. Actuation of various components is controlled by a motor through a cam shaft. The downward movement of the piston is controlled by the operation of a cam element, but this operation of the cam applying vertical force to push the piston also applies a horizontal force tending to offset the axial center lines between the piston and cylinder. Therefore means for preventing the piston from lateral horizontal movement relative to the cylinder insures improved sealing between the piston and cylinder.
Abstract:
A dispensing apparatus for dispensing discrete measured amounts of fluent material. A dispenser body includes a horizontal tubular chamber having an upper inlet port and a lower outlet port in communication with the tubular chamber. A reservoir communicates with the inlet port. A piston having a plurality of vertical and horizontal measuring holes is disposed within the horizontal tubular chamber and configured for rotational and reciprocal linear sliding engagement with the tubular chamber and each of the measuring holes can alternatively communicate with the inlet port and the outlet port when so aligned. The amount of fluent material dispensed is determined by the volume of the measuring hole. Another embodiment involves measuring holes open at one end only, with the piston rotatable to alternatively communicate the measuring hole with the inlet port and the outlet port.
