摘要： Apparatus for aligning a machine tool saddle for movement along an axis of travel includes a pair of ways rigidly joined to a support structure in parallel relation with the axis of travel, each of the ways being in slideable engagement with a slot formed in the saddle. Each of the ways is provided with a face selectively angled to line on one of the legs of an imaginary "V" positioned so as to be bisected by a plane parallel to the ways and positioned midway between them. A number of keeper blocks are inserted between the saddle and each of the angled way faces to lock the keeper blocks having an angled face in closely spaced parallel relation with one of the angled way faces. Devices are positioned between the angled faces of the keepers and their respective closely spaced angled way faces to transmit forces between the ways and the saddle through the keeper blocks to maintain the saddle in alignment with the axis of travel as the saddle is selectively moved and positioned along the axis. The devices are also adjustable to selectively space the angled faces of the keeper blocks from the angled way faces.

摘要： A positioning apparatus in which a runner is arranged to travel backwards and forwards by way of a threaded spindle extending in the lengthwise direction of the apparatus and engaging the runner. The runner is slidably mounted on three guide members positioned symmetrically around the spindle and in parallel therewith. The guide members are parts of guiding profiled members forming part of the housing of the positioning apparatus. Special slide surfaces are arranged on the guide members. The housing of the positioning apparatus is manufactured through extrusion, preferably from a light material, such as aluminium, while the slide surfaces are made from a harder material.

The device includes a mounting plate which is directly attached to the base portion of the router. The mounting plate is formed integral with a support carriage assembly that is mounted in a housing assembly to permit the router to be smoothly and accurately positioned above the work table in preselected positions. A guide pin is carried in a block assembly that is received in the work table in a manner which permits the adjustment of the guide pin into alignment with the router chuck.

摘要： A ring-blade saw for cutting a tube generally centered on a tube axis has a subtantially stationary base, an outer frame displaceable in a straight line in a plane, and an actuator connected between the base and the outer frame for displacing the frame relative to the base in the plane. An inner support is carried by a first guide on the frame for movement relative to the frame in a first straight direction lying in the plane and by a second guide for movement of the support relative to the frame in a second straight direction lying in the plane and perpendicular to the first direction. A generally planar, annular and internally toothed saw blade lying generally on the plane, centered on a saw axis generally perpendicular to the plane, and carried on the support can be rotated on the support about this saw axis. Thus the tube to be cut can extend through the blade with its axis parallel to or on the blade axis. A drive including a crank is connected between the frame and the support for orbiting the saw axis about the tube axis of a tube extending perpendicular to the plane through the blade. Thus when the blade is being rotated and orbited it can cut through the tube passing through it.

摘要： Apparatus for handling a workpiece includes a holding unit carried by a machine for receiving and holding the workpiece in a precisely located position relative to grinding, milling, or other operations to be performed on the workpiece. A loading and unloading device is secured to the holding unit for receiving a workpiece externally of the holding unit and for advancing the workpiece into the confines of the holding unit along a first axis of movement. Once the workpiece is placed within the holding unit, a placement means functions to move the workpiece along a second axis of movement away from a supporting surface of the loading means and to a final placement position where the workpiece can receive a machining operation. The apparatus is especially useful for handling rotary engine housings during grinding or milling of rotor cavities in the housings.
