摘要： The disclosure relates to a container handling mechanism for trash collecting vehicles which is adapted for handling small household trash containers; the mechanism adapted to pick up such trash containers from the ground at the forward portion of the vehicle and to transfer them upwardly, backwardly and into an upsidedown position over a receiver on the vehicle; the mechanism comprising novel elevating and actuating means wherein a pickup arm is pivotally mounted on a pivotal support on a horizontal axis and the pivotal support is provided with means for elevating it and concurrently rotating the arm about the axis of the pivotal support. Further, the disclosure relates to the detail of such mechanism, including an incline track and a sprocket and chain, or gear and rack, mechanism for rotating said arm about said pivotal support, which is actuated by a hydraulic cylinder to elevate it upwardly and backwardly on track means.

摘要： A package and a method of safely packaging rigid containers, such as glass bottles, in a carton without using inner partitions to separate the containers. The containers are placed on a bottom wall of a corrugated or similar paperboard carton blank so as to occupy substantially fully the area thereof. The vertical wall portions of the blank are then brought to bear snugly against said containers and to squeeze the containers against each other. Then sufficient force is applied against the package walls so that they are indented by the containers that bear against them. Top wall portions of the carbon blank are then brought to a horizontal position and are pressed down on the containers until both the top wall portions and the bottom wall are indented by the containers, and the walls are then secured together.

摘要： Cigarettes are removed from cartons, as a step in recovering the tobacco, by a machine which removes both side walls of the cartons and both ends of all of the packs in the cartons and directs jets of air generally axially towards the ends of the cigarettes to blow them out of the packs. Relatively thin, high pressure jets remove the center row of cigarettes, and relatively divergent, lower pressure air jets blow the remaining cigarettes out of the packs. A pneumatic separator separates the cigarettes from any particles or pieces of packaging materials blown from the packaging by the air jets.

摘要： Bottles are located in cradles on a bottle conveyor in a manner such that the bodies of alternate bottles are nested between the necks of adjoining bottles. A case conveyor parallel to the bottle conveyor moves open-topped cases in spaced relationship to a filling position at which two sets of gripper means movable above the conveyors are operable each to remove a predetermined number of nested bottles from the bottle conveyor and to deposit them as layers in cases. One set of gripper means deposits a first layer in a case and the other set deposits a second layer on top of the first layer following movement of a case from a first to a second layer receiving position.

摘要： Method and apparatus for handling envelopes. An envelope carrier is mounted on the table of a vibrating device. The carrier is formed with a plurality of upwardly and downwardly open compartments, each of which includes a pair of spaced-apart ledges positioned to support lower end corners of the envelopes. A group of stacked envelopes which are pre-opened along one edge are supported in upstanding relationship on the ledges with the open edges facing downwardly. Vibration of the table and carrier causes the side walls of individual envelopes to separate so that any contained articles drop by gravital action downwardly onto the table. In one embodiment the envelopes are supported with their major axes extending along an incline so that the articles move during vibration to the lower corners of the envelopes and pivot downwardly about fulcrums defined by the lower ledges. Means are provided to selectively adjust the distance between opposed ledges in the compartments to accomodate envelopes of variable sizes.
