Abstract:
In a mobile communication system, an Advanced Mobile Station (AMS) sends, to an Advanced Base Station (ABS), a message including information indicating whether the AMS supports a sounding antenna switching scheme. If the information indicates that the AMS supports the sounding antenna switching scheme, the message including the information includes information indicating an antenna configuration that the AMS desires to use in a sounding antenna switching operation.

A method of providing one or more thumbnail images and an image photographing apparatus thereof include displaying a plurality of thumbnail images corresponding respectively to a plurality of image data, if at least one of the plurality of thumbnail images is selected, changing a displaying status of the selected thumbnail image to be distinguishable from that of remaining thumbnail images and, if a user's motion is recognized, replacing the remaining thumbnail images with other thumbnail images while keeping the selected thumbnail image therein.
Abstract:
A method for performing a Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ) operation in a wireless mobile communication system that uses Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) or Time Division Duplex (TDD) frames each having a plurality of subframes for communication are provided, in which an HARQ timing including a transmission time of a data burst and a transmission time of an HARQ feedback, for DL HARQ is determined according to data burst assignment information transmitted in a #l DownLink (DL) subframe of a #i frame, and an HARQ operation is performed according to the determined HARQ timing. At least one frame index and at least one subframe index that represent the HARQ timing are determined by using l and i.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for controlling a Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ) operation in a transmitter of a wireless mobile communication system using each frame constituted by a plurality of subframes are provided. In the method for controlling an HARQ operation, indication information indicating a subframe position where transmission of a data burst starts and the number of subframes required for transmission of the data burst is transmitted to a receiver through an i-th frame. When the number of subframes does not exceed a threshold, it is determined that the data burst at the subframe position indicated by indication information of an (i+1)-th frame is retransmitted to the receiver. When the number of subframes exceeds the threshold, it is determined that the data burst at the subframe position indicated by indication information of an (i+n)-th frame, where n is a positive integer exceeding 1, is retransmitted to the receiver.

A variable light transmittance window includes: a substrate configured to transmit light; a thermochromic layer on the substrate; first function thin film layers on opposite surfaces of the thermochromic layer; and second function thin film layers on respective surfaces of the first function thin film layers opposite the thermochromic layer, wherein a difference between refractive indices of the first function thin film layers and the second function thin film layers is greater than a difference between refractive indices of the first function thin film layers and the thermochromic layer.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for configuring a Relay-Frame Control Header (R-FCH) transmitted in an intermediary link area in a multi-hop relay Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) communication system are provided. The method includes determining a modulation scheme of a Relay Station (RS) Downlink (DL)-MAP (or simply referred to as R-MAP) in consideration of a channel state with the RS while an initial network entry process is performed by the RS or while communicating with the RS in a Base Station (BS)-RS area where communication is made with RSs connected to the BS and transmitting a message including the determined modulation scheme to the RS. Accordingly, a Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) on the R-MAP can be dynamically changed according to a channel state between an RS and a BS, thereby enabling effective use of resources.

Abstract:
Provided is a method for receiving a notification indicating a completion of a network re-entry procedure by a Base Station (BS) in a communication system. The method includes transmitting, to a Mobile Station (MS), a RaNGing ReSPonse (RNG-RSP) message including information indicating whether to omit any of processes or transmission of messages for performing a network re-entry procedure with the BS; and receiving, from the MS, a notification indicating the completion of the network re-entry procedure.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method are provided for transmitting a signal in a communication system using a low density parity check (LDPC) code. An LDPC codeword is generated by encoding an information word at a coding rate. A puncturing pattern is generated when a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) scheme to be applied to the LDPC codeword is an incremental redundancy (IR) scheme. An additional pattern is generated when the HARQ scheme to be applied to the LDPC codeword is a partial chase combining (CC) scheme. A signal is transmitted by applying the puncturing pattern to the LDPC codeword at an associated coding rate when the HARQ scheme to be used is the IR scheme. A signal is transmitted by applying the additional pattern to the LDPC codeword at an associated coding rate when the HARQ scheme to be used is the partial CC scheme.
