Abstract: A display device includes a display panel having a display region and a peripheral region, the display panel including a TFT substrate, a counter substrate fixed to the TFT substrate by seal material formed at the peripheral region, and liquid crystal interposed between the TFT substrate and the counter substrate. The TFT substrate includes an inorganic film and an organic film, with first column spacers being formed on the counter substrate. The organic film includes a first part which has an island-like shape formed at the peripheral region and a second part formed at the display region, and the seal material covers at least one of the first column spacers and the first part of the organic film, and is in contact with the inorganic film. The first part of the organic film is separated from the second part of the organic film of the organic film.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display (LCD) device and a method for driving LCD. Such a device may have a plurality of LCD pixels in a matrix, a driver that inputs a drive signal to each pixel selectively and a controller that controls a level and a polarity of the drive signal, and a memory storing corrected charge voltage values. Each pixel is provided with the drive signal based on the corrected charge voltage values for the corresponding pixel during the entirety of a horizontal period, and the corrected charge voltage value has a predetermined value corresponding to a charge for an intended gray scale level of the pixel at the end of the horizontal period without an over shooting of the driving voltage. When the target gray scale of the pixels is at the brightest level, a predetermined negative corrected charge is applied to the pixel to avoid an after image.

Abstract: A mobile phone is provided which includes a liquid crystal display device in which a front window and a touch panel are bonded together with an adhesive sheet, wherein a logo having plural layers is formed on a back side of the front window. A touch-panel flexible wiring substrate is mounted to the touch panel. A plane distance between an end portion of the plural layers of the logo and an end portion of the touch panel is set to greater than zero. With this configuration, it is possible to prevent a peeling stress on the adhesive sheet, even if a thickness of the adhesive sheet is smaller than the sum of a thickness of the touch-panel flexible wiring substrate and a thickness of the logo.

Abstract: For suppressing a deterioration of display quality due to a luminance defect, a display device, a method of correcting a luminance defect and a luminance defect corrector are provided. The display device includes a first substrate (SUB1) having gate lines (GL), data lines (DL), pixel electrodes (PIT), and a common electrode (CIT) on a first glass substrate (GB1), and a second substrate (SUB2) having a plurality of optically transparent parts (CF) and a light shield part (BM) on a second glass substrate (GB2). The first or second glass substrate (GB1) or (GB2) contains a dimmer (10) including a plurality of dimming regions (20) that reduce the transmission of light. The dimmer (10) is formed to be superimposed on a trapped foreign matter (33) in plan view. This reduces the transmission of light from the luminance defect to suppress a deterioration of display quality.
