Abstract: A liquid crystal display device comprises: a first liquid crystal cell being a lateral electric field driven type; a second liquid crystal cell being a lateral electric field driven type; a first polarizing plate and a second polarizing plate, which are disposed so as to sandwich the first liquid crystal cell; and a third polarizing plate and a fourth polarizing plate, which are disposed so as to sandwich the second liquid crystal cell. The liquid crystal display device is configured such that rotation of a liquid crystal molecule of the first liquid crystal cell and rotation of a liquid crystal molecule of the second liquid crystal cell cancel and compensate for a hue change of the first liquid crystal cell or the second liquid crystal cell when viewed from a predetermined direction.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device comprises: a first display panel and a second display panel, which are overlapping each other; and a backlight disposed on rear surface sides of the first display panel and the second display panel. The backlight irradiates the first display panel and the second display panel with light beams in a plurality of colors while sequentially switching the light beams. Each of the first display panel and the second display panel includes a plurality of pixels. An area of the pixel included in the first display panel is smaller than an area of the pixel included in the second display panel.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes: a first display panel displaying a color image, and a second display panel displaying a black-and-white image. The second display panel includes a fourth pixel overlapping the first pixel, and a fifth pixel overlapping the second pixel and the third pixel. Abstract: A display device includes a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix. Each of the plurality of pixels includes a transistor and a pixel electrode arranged above the transistor through a first protective film and a second protective film. Among the plurality of pixels, the pixel electrodes of two pixels adjacent in a column direction are connected to corresponding source electrodes of the two pixels through second and third contact holes respectively. The second and third contact holes are formed in the first protective film within a first contact hole that is formed in the second protective film.

Abstract: A gate line (40) has a two-layered structure comprising a lower gate line (40a) made of material identical to a pixel electrode (70), and positioned in the same layer as the pixel electrode (70), and an upper gate line (40b) layered on the lower gate line (40b), and made of material having a higher electrical conductivity than the transparent conductive material. Thus, the color temperature of white is controlled. The interceptive film may be shaped like the pixel electrode. Otherwise, the interceptive film may be realized with an interceptive pattern other than that of the pixel electrode or one of openings bored in a black matrix.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate and a second substrate opposed to each other with a liquid crystal layer between the first substrate and the second substrate.
