Abstract: Apparatus and methods for access point coordination of data transmissions within a wireless local area network (WLAN). In one embodiment, a method of managing a WLAN using an access point (AP) coordination system. The AP coordination system accepts client device requests through their associated APs and coordinates one or more APs within the WLAN to fulfill the client requests, without forcing the client devices to associate with different APs. The APs fulfilling a client device request are masked under the BSSID of the client-associated AP.

One or more measurements are performed by the customer premise equipment device based on the frequency and the identity of the network and the one or more measurements are sent to a managing server.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for estimating a Citizens Broadband Radio Service Device's (CBSD's) coverage area using user equipment (UE) timing advance and/or power headroom information and allocating resources based on the estimate. In an exemplary method embodiment a Spectrum Access System: (i) receives, from a CBSD, user equipment (UE) information including at least one of timing advance or power headroom information for one or more UEs in communication with the CBSD; (ii) estimates, based on the received first UE information, a first CBSD coverage area; and (iii) makes a first resource allocation to the CBSD based on the estimated CBSD coverage area, the first resource allocation including an allocation of at least one of a frequency bandwidth allocation or transmission power allocation to the CBSD.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for managing capacity in a Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) network. An exemplary method embodiment includes operating a Citizens Broadband Radio Service Device (CBSD) of a cell to perform the steps of: receiving a power down message; decreasing, in response to the power down message, UE inactivity timer length for one or more UEs from a first length to a second length; and continuing to transmit packets to UEs at an edge of the cell. An exemplary system embodiment includes: a CBSD of a cell that comprises: a network receiver that receives a power down message; a first processor that controls the first CBSD to decrease, in response to the power down message, UE inactivity timer length for one or more UEs from a first length to a second length; and a wireless transmitter that continues to transmit packets to UEs at an edge of the cell.

Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and apparatus for managing uplink resource grants in wireless networks. An exemplary method embodiment includes a mobile terminal: receiving from a base station a first uplink resource grant schedule including a first uplink resource grant and a second uplink resource grant, the first uplink resource grant giving the mobile terminal an exclusive right to use a first set of resource blocks on a recurring basis and the second uplink resource grant giving the mobile terminal a non-exclusive right to use a second set of resource blocks on a recurring basis; and using, by the mobile terminal, the second set of resource blocks to transmit data to the base station during at least a first time interval of the first period of time, said first period of time including multiple time intervals during which the mobile terminal has been granted the right to transmit data.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for increasing channel diversity in a MIMO system, e.g. a massive MIMO system, are described. Some selected sounding reference signal values are applied to control base station transmission for antennas, e.g., randomly or semi-randomly selected antennas, to which they do not actually correspond. The wireless terminal perceives this change as a change in channel conditions, which is subsequently reported in channel status information (CSI) to the base station. This results in increased channel diversity, which is beneficial to the base station scheduler.

Abstract: Various embodiments comprise systems, methods, and apparatus for allocating resources in a 5G network comprising Citizens Broadband Radio Service Device (CBSD) nodes configured for communicating via granted spectrum with customer premises equipment (CPE) supporting wireless access points (WAPs) and the like, wherein an initial small bandwidth part (BWP) is assigned to each CPE, a BWP update process provides to a policy control function a list of devices/capabilities consuming CPE bandwidth so that the PCF may calculate a new bandwidth requirement for the CPE, the new requirement being used by the CPE to generate a CPE UE capability information message for the CBSD node, the CBSD node assigning an appropriately sized BWP for the CPE.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for reducing base station downlink transmission power in a manner that provides one or more devices being serviced by the base station time to establish or switch to another connection are described. The methods and apparatus are particularly well suited for system where base stations may be instructed by a control device to reduce or stop downlink power to a point where downlink data transmission is not supportable. In various embodiments a base station responds to a downlink power reduction instruction by reducing downlink transmission power in downlink slots in a serious of power reduction steps. In cases where the required power reduction is to a point where downlink data transmission can not be supported, the base station signals that it is switching to a no DL slot mode of operation in which downlink slots are not supported but UL slots will continue to be supported.
