    摘要: Sensors are attached directly to portions of the sand screen of a gravel packing assembly, with connectors to the sensors run through elements of the screen that are hollow for that purpose. The hollow element can be the trapezoidal wire that is circumferentially wrapped to form the outer screen or one of the outer spacers used to provide a stand-off of the wire from the underlying tubing. Sensors can detect such conditions as pressure, temperature, flow rate, density, etc., and can provide real-time information on the effectiveness of gravel placement during packing and on well conditions during production.

    摘要: The present invention provides a self-contained sensor module for use in a subterranean well that has a well transmitter or a well receiver associated therewith. In one embodiment, the sensor module comprises a housing, a signal receiver, a parameter sensor, an electronic control assembly, and a parameter transmitter; the receiver, sensor, control assembly and transmitter are all contained within the housing. The housing has a size that allows the module to be positioned within a formation about the well or in an annulus between a casing positioned within the well and an outer diameter of the well. The signal receiver is configured to receive a signal from the well transmitter, while the parameter sensor is configured to sense a physical parameter of an environment surrounding the sensor module within the well. The electronic control assembly is coupled to both the signal receiver and the parameter sensor, and is configured to convert the physical parameter to a data signal. The parameter transmitter is coupled to the electronic control assembly and is configured to transmit the data signal to the well receiver.

    摘要: A downhole shut-in tool includes in one aspect a pilot valve which when opened places a differential pressure across a piston which in turn operably engages a shut-in valve element to close the shut-in tool. An electronic timer assembly and electric drive motor are provided for controlling the action of the pilot valve. The drive motor is controlled by a load sensor which senses that the motor has stalled when an actuator engages a movement limiting abutment. In another aspect a pilot value is provided which can selectively communicate the pressure differential across the piston so as to repeatedly open and close the shut-in valve element. Efficient methods of drawdown and buildup testing using such an automated multiple operating shut-in tool are provided. Associated automated sampling tools are also disclosed.

    摘要: Methods of draw-down and build-up testing on existing production wells are disclosed. The testing may be accomplished without removing the production tubing string from the well. The production of the well is shut down and then a coiled tubing test string is run down into the production tubing string. The coiled tubing test string includes a coiled tubing string, a tester valve carried by the coiled tubing string, and a test packer carried by the coiled tubing string. The test packer is set within one of the casing bore and the production tubing bore above perforations which communicate the casing bore with a subsurface formation. Draw-down and build-up testing of the subsurface formation can then be accomplished by opening and closing the tester valve to selectively flow well fluid up through the coiled tubing string or shut in the coiled tubing string. After the draw-down/build-up testing is completed, the coiled tubing test string is removed from the well and production of the well is resumed up through the production tubing bore of the production tubing string. Optionally, the coiled tubing test string may carry a perforating gun to perforate a new zone of the well which may then be tested.

In one embodiment, the tool contains cylindrical housing means, a power piston, means for biasing the power piston, an oil case, an air case, valve means, valve activation means, and means for sampling the well fluid. In a second embodiment, the valve activating means includes energizing means for energizing an electric motor. In a third embodiment, a rupture disc is used in order to axially move the power piston.
