Abstract:
A filter element is provided for high capacity liquid filtration. The filter element includes an outer filter and an inner filter having a diameter smaller than a diameter of the outer filter and positioned within the outer filter forming a passageway therebetween. The filter element also includes an outer filter support and an inner filter support. A first seal cap is positioned on a first side of the inner and outer filters and a second seal cap is positioned on a second side of the inner and outer filters opposite the first seal cap. The inner filter support is positioned within the inner filter and the outer filter is positioned within the outer filter support. The first seal cap is secured to the first side of the inner and outer filters and the inner and outer filter supports. The second seal cap is secured to the second side of the inner and outer filters and the inner and outer filter supports such that a liquid flows into the filter element through the first seal cap and through the passageway to the second seal cap whereby particles within the liquid are removed by the inner and outer filters.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for guiding a dispersion of two liquids formed in the mixing stage of liquid-liquid extraction along the longitudinal axis of the separation section in the feed end of an extraction separation section. In particular the method and equipment relate to the extraction process used in the recovery of metals. In accordance with the method the dispersion to be fed into the separation section is guided so that it spreads evenly over the cross-section of the separation section using a directional member placed so as to obtain a vertical flow. The equipment in accordance with the invention consists of a directional member, which is in turn made up of at least two separate parts.
Abstract:
A filter underdrain apparatus and a method for manufacturing such apparatus. The apparatus includes a cover member, a water orifice member and a bottom member, each being individual pieces. The cover is placed over the water orifice member and connected thereto by welding. The bottom member is likewise connected to the cover and water orifice members by welding. A water passageway and an air passageway are defined in the inside of the assembled members. Water egress from the water passageway is provided by holes in the water orifice member and the cover. Air egress from the air passageway is provided by holes in the cover.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to stationary cloth media filtration systems and devices, as well as processes and devices for uniform flow distribution and improved cloth media filter backwashing.
Abstract:
A submerged intake filter assembly comprising a cylindrical screen, a first end plate, a second end plate, a primary flow modifier pipe, and a plurality of secondary flow modifier pipes. The primary flow modifier pipe is eccentric with the cylindrical screen at the first end plate. The secondary flow modifier pipes are positioned to lie in an annular space between the primary flow modifier pipe and the cylindrical screen.
Abstract:
Filter cartridge assemblies and housings are provided and include a tubular housing having an inner wall, an outer wall, a first end, and a second end. The housings include inner walls with shoulders or other radially-inwardly extending flow directors at the intersections of adjacent sections of the tubular body. The assemblies include a plurality of filter media sections within the housing, and each of the plurality of filter media sections preferably has a different filter media composition. One or more of the filter media sections traverses one or more of the shoulders or other radially-inwardly extending flow directors such that the flow directors evenly direct the flow of fluid through the assembly. The assemblies find particular applicability in dialysis systems.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a filter device comprising a filter housing (10), a filter inlet (12), a filter outlet (14), and a filter element (16) which divides a filter area (18) into two partial areas (20,22). At least one of the partial filter areas is conical in form resulting from the fact that the cross-section of one partial area (20) is tapered from the filter inlet (12) to the filter outlet (14). Said partial areas are separated from each other by said filter element. This results in an optimum residence time distribution inside the filter device at a uniform flow rate, which is particularly useful for highly viscous fluids such as polymer melts or similar.
Abstract:
A media bed support grid for use with a vessel having an inner surface. The media bed support grid comprises a plurality of filter panels, each filter panel having a plurality of parallel and spaced-apart filter wires, the plurality of filter wires forming a filtering surface. The media bed support grid also comprises a plurality of channels underlying and positioned substantially perpendicular to the filter wires. The media bed support grid further comprises a plurality of manifolds, each manifold being coupled to and in fluid communication with the channels.
Abstract:
A whirlpool bath has a combination suction fixture and disposable filter. The suction fixture is a plastic semi-cylindrical housing attachable to the tub. A removable faceplate is reinforced and resistant to body and hair entrapment. The disposable filter is fibrous having a porous core, wherein the porous core has a series of holes and/or slots graduating in size from small at the outlet end to large at the remote end. The filter, sloped floor of the housing and drain slots provide for low water retention during shutdown.
