In order to reduce the data amount of image data while preventing degradation of image quality, an MFP includes an image data acquiring portion to acquire image data, a region extracting portion to extract regions having predetermined attributes from the image data, a selecting portion to select one of the extracted regions, a reduction portion to reduce the data amount of the image data by processing the selected region in a manner predetermined for the attribute of that region, and a comparing portion to compare the data amount of the image data after reduction of the data amount with a predetermined target value, in which the selecting portion selects the regions one by one until the comparing portion determines that the data amount of the image data is equal to or less than the target value.

To achieve this object, the present invention has the following configuration. Namely, the invention provides an image processing method of an image capturing apparatus, communicably connected with a printing apparatus which prints transmitted image data. The image processing method comprises: a receiving step (step S101, S104) of receiving information regarding a printing condition of the printing apparatus for printing the transmitted image data; a processing step (step S103, S106) of processing image data to be transmitted to the printing apparatus based on the information regarding the printing condition received in the receiving step; and a transmitting step (step S108) of transmitting the image data processed in the processing step to the printing apparatus.

In an image data server, a preview data generation unit generates preview data corresponding to image data, and a transmission controller transmits the preview data to a computer system in an image receiver apparatus. In accordance with another possible application, the preview data is not generated by the image data server, but is generated by a computer system in an image transmitter apparatus, which transmits the image data to the image data server, and transmitted to the image data server. In the computer system in the image receiver apparatus, a display controller causes the contents of the preview data to be displayed on the screen of a monitor. The user determines whether or not the image data corresponding to the displayed preview image is required.

An automatic scanning parameter setting device and method. The automatic scanning parameter setting device is a scanner that automatically sets the scanning parameters of a plurality of scan images so that scanning can be conducted in batches. The automatic scanning parameter setting device includes an image input device, an analysis device and a control unit. The image input device is attached to the scanner for inputting a plurality of scan images. A portion of the scan images contains a set parameter format. The set parameter format contains a plurality of scanning parameter values. The analysis device performs an analysis of the scan images containing recorded scan parameter values. The control unit uses the analyzed scanning parameter values to conduct a scanning parameter setting operation on the scan images having recorded scanning parameter values as well as the ordered scan images after the scan images with recorded scan parameter values but without recorded scan parameter values.

The invention provides a method, an apparatus and a system for image processing in a network environment such as the Internet. The method includes receiving an image access request sent by a user, forwarding the image access request to a real-time image processor, receiving an image returned by the real-time image processor for the user to use, the image being obtained by the real-time image processor processing the original image according to the image access request. According to the embodiments of the invention, users can obtain images of interest in real time, user demand is well met, and user satisfaction is improved.

An image processing system connects a plurality of clients to an image processing apparatus via a network. The image processing apparatus includes a reading device that reads an image of an original document and generates a prescribed image signal, an image data generating device that applies prescribed image processing to the image signal to generate image data, and a memory that stores the image data. A format converting device is provided to convert an image format of the image data selected from the memory by one of plurality of client apparatuses into a prescribed format in accordance with a format condition designated by the client apparatus. A delivering device is provided to deliver the image data to the client apparatus in the prescribed format.

A system, method, and process for embedding low frequency image details and high frequency image details into a final digital image file. A digital image file is stored with embedded low and high frequency image details that are accessible with a compatible digital image decoder and a non-compatible digital image decoder. Non-compatible digital image decoders access only a compressed low frequency image of the original digital image contained in the final digital image file. Compatible digital image decoders use the embedded high frequency image details contained in the final digital image file to render a high resolution image.

An image processing system is provided that is capable of performing copying processes by connecting devices which specifications for processing image data are mutually different. In an image processing system comprised of an image reading device for optically reading original documents and converting these into electronic image data and a printing device for printing image data that have been received from the image reading device onto recording media, image processing circuits for processing image data in accordance with specified specifications are respectively incorporated into the scanning device and the printing device, and a device that may be set in accordance with specifications for processing image data based on given circuit arrangement information is used to comprise at least a part of either one of the image processing circuits of these devices. By setting the image processing circuit in accordance with specifications for processing image data on the basis of specification information of the image processing circuit of the opposing device, it is enabled to connect scanning devices and printing devices that are of mutually different specifications.
