The transverse portions or sides are made of frame portions having a material thickness of up to 20mm. The webs or spacing between the openings is up to 10mm in thickness. In the case of circular, hexagonal, or similar shape passages, the openings have diameters of up to 16mm and in a construction which includes a slot formation, the slots are made up to 16mm wide.

    摘要: The coke forms are produced in four stages, each constituted by a respective oven chamber, and in which the briquets are, respectively, preheated, dehydrated or dried, carbonized and cooled. Hot gas circuits are provided, in which the hot gas is composed substantially of burnt lean gas of the carbonization, and, for each stage, the hot gases are recirculated in a separate respective circuit. In the preheating, dehydrating and carbonization stages, the hot gases are heated and produced, or supplemented, in a respective separate combustion chamber with the recirculating hot gas in the carbonization stage being supplemented with cooled lean gas from this stage. The recirculating hot gases are dedusted separately in a dust settling chamber in which their flow velocity is reduced to approximately 0.2 to 2.0 m/sec, with the dust being collected. Steam may be added to the recirculating hot gas of the preheating stage, drying stage, or both, and the pressure in the hot gas circuits is maintained at a level slightly higher than atmospheric pressure. The oven chambers are arranged as a vertical oven block plant and the oven chambers are interconnected with each other by transition zones which are conically narrowed to approximately one half of the cross section of the chamber and then widened up to the full cross section. The hot gas inlets are provided in the transition zones at the lower ends of the oven chambers, and the hot gas outlets are provided in the transition zones at the upper ends of the chambers. The dust settling chambers are provided immediately adjacent the hot gas outlets, and the carbonization chamber is surrounded by its combustion chamber to form an operating unit. A metal plate overlies the portion of the armor plate which extends outwardly from the frame and it has an edge which projects from the armor plate in a direction toward the frame. A hooked member is engaged over the edge of the plate and an eye bolt is threaded into the hooked member and provides a bolt for the pivotal mounting of a toggle which has one arm which bears against the frame and another arm which extends upwardly alongside an anchor stand which is mounted over the plate of the armor. A pressure plate is positioned between the anchor stand and a set screw or bolt member which is extended through the second arm portion of the toggle and it may be adjusted to vary the pressure acting on the second arm to force it outwardly from the anchor stand and the first arm into engagement with the frame member.

    摘要: An apparatus for producing form coke that is coke having pieces of substantially identical form comprises a heated shaft furnace comprises mixing fine coke with a caking coal and pressing the mixture at temperatures at which the mixture is plastic in order to form briquettes. The briquettes are permitted to harden and degasify and thereafter they are exposed to a high temperature after hardening for example to a temperature of from 400.degree. to 900.degree. C. from 60 to 120 minutes. Thereafter the briquettes are cooled. A first mixing substance is prepared by permitting a fine coal to fall in a non-compressed stream in the shaft furnace while heat is transferred thereto substantially by radiation. The apparatus for carrying out the method includes a regeneratively fired shaft furnace which is provided with heating flues and which has a clear height of approximately 35 meters, a width of approximately 1 meter and a length of approximately 5 meters. The shaft furnace is provided with gas offtakes extending at different levels of the shaft furnace obliquely upwardly and having widened cross sections. They are either provided with steam inlets or connected into spaces or retorts which are equipped with steam inlets. The shaft furnace and its gas offtakes are made of a good heat conducting material containing silicon carbide or aluminum oxide.

    摘要: A process for converting ammonia and hydrogen sulfide in coke oven gases into nitrogen, water and sulfur comprises, mixing the oven gases with oxygen and a portion of the waste gases of the process from which all the ammonia and most of the hydrogen sulfide has been removed, burning the mixture in a combustion chamber and passing the resulting gaseous products over a catalyst to convert the ammonia into water and nitrogen, mixing the gases after they pass over the catalyst with oxygen and another portion of the waste gases, and cooling the mixture and removing the condensed sulfur therefrom to form remaining products. The remaining products are further processed to remove additional sulfur, to condense and remove water. A portion of the remaining products are returned to the process in the form of waste gases.

    摘要: A hopper for predried fine coal for use with a coke oven battery or a plurality of batteries arranged in a row, comprises a wheeled support truck which is adapted to be moved along over the top of the oven batteries. A fine coal hopper is mounted on the truck and it includes a bottom discharge to facilitate discharging of the fine coal therethrough into the individual batteries. An inert gas system is connected to the fine coal hopper and it includes an inert gas distributor located alongside the hopper on the truck, and includes nozzles directed at a plurality of locations around the periphery and along the height of the fine coal hopper into the hopper and the fine coal contained therein. The hopper is closed by a hood which includes a hood drain connected through an inert gas return line to a plurality of filters where the coarse particles are removed and fed to a source for using the coarse coal particles and the inert gases are again returned to a compressor, along with a fresh supply of inert gases, which discharges into a pressure storage tank. The pressure storage tank is connected through an inert gas feedline to the distributor. In one embodiment, the inert gas feed and return line comprises an extensible, flexible connection, which is effected by the use of a small wheeled carriage containing a windup reel which moves inwardly and outwardly in respect to the fine coal hopper to accommodate the slack between the hopper and the inert gas system which is located at a fixed station. In another embodiment, the inert gas system, which includes filters for filtering the return inert gases, and a compressor for compressing the gases along with a fresh supply of inert gas and delivering it to a pressure storage tank mounted on a carriage which also moves along with the hopper and is coupled to the hopper truck.
