    Abstract: The present invention for the first time discloses a method and a kit of parts for treating a periodontal disease, such as periimplantitis, gingivitis, periodontitis and/or periimplant mucositis, caused by microorganisms that colonize a tooth and/or implant surface at, above and/or below the gingival margin, and which reside in a biofilm either subgingival and/or supragingival, characterized by employing a surgical process leading to substantively removing, destroying, killing and/or disrupting and/or inhibiting growth and/or regrowth of a pathogenic biofilm at a site of a microbial infection in a patient suffering from a periodontal disease. Said method comprises, and said kit of parts comprises the means for; cleaning disinfecting and/or debriding the site of microbial infection mechanically and sequentially using first at least one cleaning and/or disinfecting agent with an immediate bactericidal effect, such as a NaCIO solution, and thereafter at least one cleaning and/or disinfecting agent with a sustainable bactericidal effect, such as a CHX solution.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to endosseous implants and in particular, to screw form dental implants for implanting within bone. The bone implant is configured to be a self-drilling bone implant that is adept at condensing, collecting and distributing bone along all of the implant's surface and within the implantation site, to significantly increase the bone implant contact surface. The implant is configured to have a coronal portion and a body portion that are continuous with one another. The coronal portion is configured to have a smaller overall diameter than the overall diameter of said body portion. The body portion is fit with threading that facilitates the self-drilling and bone collection properties when the implant is rotates in both the clockwise and counterclockwise directions.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a receptacle for a dental implant (1) having an implant extension (2), said receptacle comprising: a cover (10) which is formed along a longitudinal axis with a first end section (11) which is open to the outside in the direction of the longitudinal axis and with a second end section (12) which is closed to the outside, wherein the cover (10) surrounds an interior space (15) which is open to the first end section (11) and in which a holder (20) is arranged along the longitudinal axis, said holder having a channel which is open to the outside along the longitudinal axis, the channel being formed to partially receive and to hold the implant extension (2) during transport; and a bottom receptacle (14) formed tubularly along the longitudinal axis with an outer third end section (14a) and an opposing fourth end section (14b), the third end section (14a) being sealed tightly to the outside, wherein the fourth end section (14b) of the bottom receptacle (14) and the first end section (11) of the cover (10) are interconnectable and manually detachable to form a substantially gas and liquid tight space therebetween; wherein at least three spring arms (31) are formed and arranged in the cover (10) towards the longitudinal axis in such a way that they are each connected to the cover (10) at an outer first end (31a) along an annular region around the longitudinal axis and are equally spaced apart and resilient radially towards the longitudinal axis with a respective second end (31b), wherein the second ends (31b) towards the longitudinal axis each having a nub (32) formed to engage a groove (7) formed annularly on the implant extension (2) when the implant extension (2) is in its final position; and wherein the spring arms (31) are designed geometrically and so flexible that the nubs (32) are pushed away from the longitudinal axis during insertion of the implant extension (2) and, in the final position, push into the groove (7) with a tensioning force perpendicular to the longitudinal axis.

    Abstract: The present invention discloses a low viscosity composition comprising enamel matrix derivative (EMD) proteins in a suitable pharmaceutical carrier, said composition having a pH between pH 3.8-4.2, and a viscosity of less than 50 mPa s at 22° C., which, when applied to a porous bone graft material, improves and/or enhances bioactivity and osteoconduction of said bone graft material. The present invention consequently discloses a bone graft material which has been bioactivated using a low viscosity composition comprising enamel matrix derivative (EMD) proteins and which displays enhanced biocompatibility and improved bone regeneration after implantation.

    Abstract: A Process for providing a defined surface topography to at least a portion of a ceramic body, the process comprising the subsequent steps of a) applying a layer of a calcium containing substance comprising at least one calcium compound onto the surface of at least a portion of the ceramic basic body; b) thermally treating the ceramic basic body with the layer applied thereon at an elevated temperature, whereby a calcium compound or a calcium component based on the calcium compound diffuses into the basic body to form an intermediate body, said intermediate body comprising in its outermost surface region a calcium containing crystalline phase; and c) chemically treating the outermost surface region of the intermediate body with an inorganic acid or base to partially remove the calcium containing crystalline phase, thereby obtaining the surface topography.
