    摘要: A liquid crystal display device can suppress the local temperature elevation of a liquid crystal in the vicinity of drivers. On a liquid-crystal-side surface of one substrate out of substrates which are arranged to face each other in an opposed manner while sandwiching a liquid crystal therebetween, a switching element which is operated in response to scanning signals from a gate signal line, a pixel electrode to which video signals from a drain signal line are supplied via the switching element, and a reference electrode which generates an electric field between the reference electrode and the pixel electrode are mounted on each pixel region of the liquid-crystal-side surface. The video signals from the drain signal line are generated by a driver chip mounted on one substrate. A light transmittivity of the liquid crystal layer is set to take a minimum value when a voltage is not applied between the pixel electrode and the reference electrode. A maximum amplitude of voltage of the video signals is set to a value not more than a voltage necessary for setting a relative transmittivity of the liquid crystal layer to 90%.

    摘要: In a two-component development system containing a toner and a carrier, an a-Si photosensitive member having a diameter of from 20 mm to 80 mm is used, the photosensitive member is electrostatically charged to have a surface potential of from 300 to 450 V (absolute value), and yellow, magenta, cyan and black toners are used each of which have a weight-average particle diameter of from 4.0 &mgr;m to 10.0 &mgr;m, and, under a condition that the carrier of the two-component developer has a 50% average particle diameter of from 10 &mgr;m to 80 &mgr;m and as image density (D0.5) measured usually after the toner is fixed once when the quantity of unfixed toner on a transfer medium, M/S, is 0.5 mg/cm2, have a coloring power of from 1.0 to 1.9, and in which the difference between a maximum value and a minimum value of D0.5 of yellow, magenta, cyan and black colors is form 0 to 0.5. This makes it possible to obtain high-quality images in a high image density and a superior color reproduction.

    摘要: Realizing low driving voltage, high contrast, and high response speed in an active matrix type liquid crystal display device of the in-plane switching mode type. The construction of the liquid crystal display device according to the present invention comprises a pair of substrates whose spacing is determined by spacers placed in a non-displaying region, a liquid crystal layer filled in the space between said pair of substrates, a set of electrodes formed on the surface of one of the substrates of said pair of substrates for applying an electric field to said liquid crystal layer, and a pair of optical polarizers placed so that they enclose said liquid crystal layer and with their axes of polarization almost at right angles to each other, with the liquid crystal layer containing 40% or more weight percentage or 100% or less weight percentage of a constituent component with a dielectric anisotropy of &Dgr;∈≦1, the directions of controlled orientation of liquid crystal molecules at the two surfaces between said liquid crystal layer and said pair of substrates being almost parallel, and with the axis of polarization of one of the polarizers being almost aligned with the direction of controlled orientation of liquid crystal molecules at said surfaces.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display device including a liquid crystal composition layer having twistable liquid crystal molecules, a first substrate and a second substrate having the liquid crystal composition layer disposed therebetween, and a video signal line formed between a face of the first substrate and a face of the liquid crystal composition layer with at least one pixel electrode and at least one counter electrode being formed at each of pixels adjoining each other across the video signal line. The pixel electrode is fed with a selected video signal through the video signal line, and the counter electrode is fed with a counter voltage. The twisting extent of the liquid crystal molecules is controlled by an electric field which is generated between the pixel electrode and the counter electrode and which has a component substantially parallel to said first substrate. One of the counter electrodes of the individual pixels is positioned at opposite sides of the video signal line, and the one of the counter electrodes has a width which is at least equal to one half of the width of the video signal line.

    摘要: An active matrix type liquid crystal display system having a liquid crystal composition being interposed between a first and a second substrates, a plurality of pixel parts being constructed with a plurality of scanning electrodes and a plurality of signal electrodes arranged in a matrix, a switching element being provided in each of the pixel parts, wherein the switching element is connected to a pixel electrode, the pixel electrode and a common electrode being so constructed as operable in keeping the major axes of the liquid crystal molecules parallel to the surface of the substrate. In the pixel part, the signal electrode and the pixel electrode is formed and a shield electrode is formed between the signal electrode and the pixel electrode. The system requires no transparent electrode, being excellent in visual angle characteristic, being high in contrast, being small in cross-talk producing probability.
