    摘要: In a transflective liquid crystal display device having a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer disposed between the two substrates and a reflective region and a transmissive region in each pixel; the second substrate has a pixel electrode to drive the liquid crystal layer and a common electrode; the reflective region of the second substrate is formed with an in-cell polarizer between the pixel electrode and common electrode and the reflector. In this invention, the thickness of the liquid crystal layer is set greater in the reflective region than in the transmissive region. The difference in the liquid crystal layer thickness between the reflective region and the transmissive region is provided by forming a step in the first substrate or the second substrate.

    摘要: The present invention provides a projection type liquid crystal display device capable of achieving a high contrast ratio without causing optical leakage on boundary wavelength regions of three color light components in the case of a black display. The projection type liquid crystal display device is provided with a first and a second retarder stacks each of which has cut-off wavelengths. The cut-off wavelength on the short wavelength side of the first retarder stack is placed on a shorter wavelength side as compared with the cut-off wavelength on the short wavelength side of the second retarder stack, and the cut-off wavelength on the long wavelength side of the first retarder stack is placed on a longer wavelength side as compared with the cut-off wavelength on the long wavelength side of the second retarder stack.

    摘要: A display with low power consumption using a memory-incorporated pixel system capable of refreshing the image signal memory and updating an image without causing a flicker. Each pixel arranged in matrix has, at an intersection between the signal line and the scan line, a first transistor and a second transistor to drive the electrooptical medium. The second transistor has its gate connected with the image signal memory which in turn is connected to the reference voltage line. There is a parasitic capacitor between the gate of the second transistor and the scan line. The gate of the second transistor is also connected with an added capacitor. Further, the second transistor is connected with a holding capacitor and also has a parasitic capacitor.

    摘要: A liquid-crystal display device and a method of driving the same which can suppress flicker to maintain an enhanced quality of picture, and can reduce its power consumption. A backlight unit is turned ON and OFF a plurality of times in synchronism with a frame period having a scanning period and a hold period longer than the scanning period. One turning ON and OFF period of the backlight corresponds to a backlight period having a length of 1/60 seconds or smaller. The backlight unit is turned ON and OFF four times in four backlight periods within one frame period. Thus, the display device can suppress flicker and reduce its power consumption.
