摘要: Some configurations of the present invention thus provide a method for producing images of an object. The method includes dynamically helically scanning an object on a moving table utilizing a scanning imaging system. During the scan, projection views of the object are acquired and stored together with corresponding table locations. A plane for reconstruction of an image of the object is selected. The stored table locations are used to determine geometric variables applicable to the stored projection views; and the stored projection views are filtered and backprojected utilizing the geometrical variables to reconstruct an image of the object at the reconstruction plane.

摘要: A method and system for an improved data acquisition system with an image detector array and an image processing system which finds a malfunctioning cell, interpolates a signal for the malfunctioning cell using neighboring channels of the cell, and corrects the interpolation with an error rate found in performing interpolations on neighboring rows with cells which are not malfunctioning. The image processing system may include a DAS and a reconstruction system. The step of finding a malfunctioning cell may be accomplished through a variety of methods, such as measuring discrepancies between a cell's and its neighboring cell's average readings over time and exposing the cells to x-rays which should produce similar readings in all the cells and comparing the cells' signals, looking for discrepancies. The step of interpolating and the step of correcting may take into consideration cells within the same projection view as the malfunctioning cell.

摘要: The present invention provides a method to detect tube spits and to reduce spit related artifacts in a computed tomography imaging system. A way of detecting tube spit is to monitor the generator kilovolt or milliamp waveforms. Changes in kV waveform follow closely with those in offset-corrected projection data. If a tube-spit event is not detected, processing proceeds without tube spit correction. If a tube-spit event is detected, a tube spit correction is performed. The objective of tube-spit correction is to remove image artifacts due to the occurrence of a tube-spit event.

摘要: An imaging system is provided including a source generating an x-ray beam and a detector array receiving the x-ray beam and generating projection data corresponding to at least a scanned portion of an object. An image reconstructor is electrically coupled to said detector array and reconstructs an image of the scanned portion of the object for a full field-of-view in response to said projection data using a dual iterative reconstruction technique. The dual iterative reconstruction technique includes reconstructing the full field-of-view using a first resolution and reconstructing a region-of-interest within the full FOV using a second resolution. A method is also provided for reconstructing an image using projection data from such an imaging system.

摘要: One aspect of the present invention is a method that includes helically scanning an object at a selected helical pitch to acquire projection data of the object. The acquired projection data includes conjugate samples from single rows of the detector array of the CT imaging system and interrow samples. Projections in a plane of reconstruction (POR) are estimated based upon a selection of the projection data from the group consisting of the conjugate samples from at least one of the single rows, the interrow samples, and combinations thereof, the selection dependent upon the selected helical pitch. The estimated projections are filtered and backprojected to reconstruct at least one image of the object.

摘要: Degradation in reconstructed medical images is reduced by a method for calibrating a primary decay correction for a radiation detector having a decay curve that can be characterized by a plurality of components having different time constants. The method includes steps of: fitting the decay curve to a sum of a plurality of weighted exponentials having a first set of time constants; applying a correction to a measured response of the detector using a sum of the plurality of weighted exponentials having the first set of time constants to obtain a corrected response; selecting at least one additional exponential time constant dependent upon the corrected response; and fitting the decay curve to a sum of a second plurality of weighted exponentials including the first plurality of time constants and the at least one additional exponential time constant.

摘要: The present invention, in one form, is an imaging system for generating images of an entire heart. In one embodiment, projection data is collected for a field of view containing only the heart so that the total detector size is reduced. The smaller detector allows the use of a plurality of source-detector pairs so that projection data for an angular coverage of (&pgr;+fan angle) is collected by rotating a gantry significantly less than one complete rotation. Therefore, projection data is collected in significantly less than one cardiac cycle, minimizing motion artifacts.

摘要: The present invention, in one form is an imaging system for generating images of an entire object. In one embodiment, a physiological cycle unit is used to determine the cycle of the moving object. By altering the rotational speed of an x-ray source as a function of the object cycle, segments of projection data are collected for each selected phase of the object during each rotation. After completing a plurality of rotations, the segments of projection data are combined and a cross-sectional image of the selected phase of the object is generated. As a result, minimizing motion artifacts.
