Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for stretching tendons, muscles and associated soft tissues of human joints. The apparatus includes a generality planar frame having two sides, two ends, a lower surface adapted to be supported by a ground support surface and an upper surface. An elongated upright support has a first end which is secured to the frame so that the second end of the upright support extends generally vertically upwardly from the frame. At least one pulley is secured adjacent the upper end of the upright support. Thereafter, an elongated cord has one end adapted to be secured to the limb of a human user and this cord extends through the pulley. The human user, by pulling on the cord, stretches the limb of the human user in the desired fashion. By attaching the cord to different limbs and assuming different positions, the human user can stretch his or her tendons, muscles and associated soft tissues of numerous joints and a numerous stretching positions.

Abstract: The leg exerciser is a simple device, preferably made from bent tubing, with a foot support at one extremity of the tubing and a loose fitting knee engaging pad. The knee itself serves as a pivot for the exercising of a leg. The bent tubing forms as L shaped set of parallel rods, between which the foot may be engaged, supported between the rods. A knee pad is engaged on the rods over the knee. There is a handle at the end of the L shape of the rod. The handle can be used with great leverage for easily exercising the leg pivoting on the knee. The leg exerciser can alternately be engaged to a shoe from leg brace for the same use. The leg exerciser is simple to construct, inexpensive, and light weight.

Abstract: A self-operable knee therapy device includes a first elongate platform on which the lower leg of a person may be secured so that the back of the leg is in contact with the platform, a second elongate platform pivotally joined at one end to an end of the first platform and on which the upper leg of the person may be secured with the back of the upper leg being in contact with the second platform, and an elongate central support member pivotally joined at its upper end to the joined ends of the first and second platforms for supporting the joined ends in an elevated position. A handle is coupled to the first platform to enable grasping by a user so that when the handle is moved away from the person, the free end of the first platform is caused to pivot downwardly, and when the handle is moved toward the person, the free end is caused to pivot upwardly. By manual movement of the handle, the lower leg can be pivoted relative to the upper leg of a person in a selective manner to exercise and rehabilitate the knee and/or leg muscles.

Abstract: In an exerciser, limb supports are provided for reducing limb spasms during exercising and holding the limbs in place. The lower supports are adapted for attachment to the foot pedals and are generally L-shaped in section for supporting the foot and calf of the leg. A tether holds the support in position when it is not in use. The upper supports are removably secured to the hand grips and support the operator's wrist and forearm. Both supports are strapped to the appropriate limb. The motorized drive for the lower and upper crank arms includes a clutch of the overriding type so that the operator can temporarily use muscle power to turn the hand cranks faster than the speed of the motor drive itself without deactivating the motor drive or disengaging the clutch or changing the drive of the pedals. The exerciser is fixedly mounted on a platform which is of a size sufficient to receive a wheelchair so that a wheelchair confined person can have the benefits of the device. The exerciser includes a fully protective housing extending from the top of the drive mechanism to the bottom supporting platform, with the housing including upper and lower telescoping portions. The upper housing portion, together with its internal mechanism, is pivotable relative to the lower housing portion to provide fore-and-aft adjustment of the upper crank arms.

Abstract: The sole of a bed shoe has a perforated plastic lower portion and an upper portion comprised of a polyurethane foam cushion. A polyurethane foam anklet is affixed to the sole so as to substantially surround the wearer''s heel and ankle. The top of the anklet is adjustably fastened about the lower portion of the wearer''s leg and an adjustable strap extends from the toe portion of the sole to the top of the anklet to limit downward motion of the wearer''s toes away from the leg. A strap extends from one side of the sole across the wearer''s foot to the other side of the sole; and slidable members are located at the heel so as to be extendable outwardly for preventing inversion and eversion of the foot. A two element strap is detachably affixed to the shoe''s heel. One element is adapted to be grasped by the wearer''s hand so that the foot can be pulled by the heel toward the wearer''s body. The other element is adapted to extend over rollers or the like below the wearer''s foot and then back to the wearer''s hand so that the foot can again be pulled by the heel away from the wearer''s body. In this manner, the wearer can alter the position of the foot and the leg can be exercised.

Abstract: A walking roller assembly includes a leg sling for receiving a patient's lower leg and pair of roller frames each attached to the leg sling. Each of the roller frames has a curved member which engages a support surface upon which the patient is walking. Thus, each of the roller frames inhibits the patient's lower leg from supporting the patient's body weight to facilitate a leg injury to heal. The curved member of each of the roller frames curves downwardly with respect to the leg sling thereby facilitating the leg sling to rock when the patient walks thereby simulating the patient's normal gait. A leg panel is pivotally attached to the pair of roller frames and the leg panel is oriented at an angle with the leg sling. In this way the leg panel can receive the patient's upper leg and orient the patient's leg in a bent position.
