Abstract:
A conveyor delivers a series of cylindrical wrapped fibrous modules to a station where the module is lifted off the conveyor and an operation conducted on the module. One operation is to find a tail, or unattached segment, of the cover. Another operation is to remove the cover, by slitting and then unwinding it. The cover is delivered to a storage area and the contents of the module are delivered into a hopper, or in some embodiments, into a disperser. In some embodiments, a grabber moves the slit cover from adjacent a slitting position to a storage area and includes a guide wheel for moving a conveyor up and down in response to the configuration of the round module. In one embodiments, the plastic cover is removed manually by workers guiding the plastic wrap as it is unrolled by the unrolling device.
Abstract:
Apparatus for dispensing coiled barb tape which includes a frame in which is located a boom from which the coiled barb tape is suspended. The boom is extensible to assist in deployment of the barb tape and the frame, apart from protecting the coiled barb tape, provides a stacking characteristic with similar frames.
Abstract:
In a storage and handling installation for paper rolls for a printing facility, a storage structure is provided with two parallel storage racks separated by an aisle. The first storage rack provides a series of floor strips interrupted by load stations as well as shelves, each shelf being situated above one of the floor strips. Floor strips and shelves each provide a plurality of storage locations for taking up paper rolls side by side with their axes horizontally oriented transversely to the aisle. The load stations can each take up a wagon transferable to a reelstand via a straight rail section. A storage and retrieval device is movable along the aisle and comprises a vertically movable platform with a support transversely extendable into the storage locations and load stations for taking up or deposing a single paper roll. The storage locations and the load stations are contained in a contiguous uninterrupted handling space such that the loaded storage and retrieval device can move along the aisle with extended support where the storage locations are unoccupied, whereby less time is consumed during roll delivery and reshuffling operations.
Abstract:
A method for storing loads (P), especially cylindrical objects such as paper rolls, in a storage (1), where the loads are brought in and stored and from where the loads are taken out by means of a load manipulating device for further processing. At least one load (P) at a time is moved into storage and/or out of storage by means of at least two separate carriage units (10) working in an at least substantially synchronized manner relative to each other, which together move the at least one load.
Abstract:
An apparatus for conveying conveyable material. The apparatus includes a plurality of cars joined together by a plurality of spacers. The spacers couple the cars a fixed distance apart to form a shuttle. The shuttle is guided along a track between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the shuttle is aligned with a first group of supports. The shuttle in the first position receives conveyable material from the supports. The shuttle in the second position is aligned with a second group of supports. The shuttle disposes the conveyable material from each of the cars carrying the conveyable material to the second group of supports. A drive means repeatedly drives the shuttle between the first position and the second position. The cars remain the fixed distance apart during the driving between the first position and the second position.
Abstract:
Large rolls of partially overlapping paper sheets which are convoluted onto the cores of reels are stored in one or more rows of compartments in a newspaper printing or bookbinding plant. Two adjoining rows are separated from each other by a track for one or more vehicles which are used to transport empty reels to one or more compartments wherein the sheets are convoluted onto the respective cores as well as to transport loaded reels to unoccupied compartments or to compartments which are adjacent to unwinding units. Conveyors in the form of cranes and/or chain or belt conveyors are used to transfer empty and loaded reels between the compartments of the rows and pairs of similar compartments on the vehicles. A vehicle which transports a loaded reel from the convoluting station to an empty compartment is used to transport an empty reel from such compartment to the compartment at the convoluting station so that the vehicle is put to use during each stage of its movement.
Abstract:
An automatic apparatus for supplying laps to a group of combers. A plurality of lap carriers and bare-bobbin carriers are carried along a looped passage by an overhead conveyer disposed above a lap lifting machine for transferring laps delivered from a lap forming machine to each lap carrier, and a plurality of devices are provided for supplying laps carried by the lap carriers to a lap stand of the respective combers. The overhead conveyer is stopped when the above-mentioned lap transfer operation to and from the lap carriers is carried out by means of automatic actuation means.
