Abstract:
A pivoting and sliding closure assembly is provided which rides in a guide channel of a frame upon a pivot shoe assembly which at one end securely pivots a closure member upon one pivot shoe when the closure is pivoted away from the channel, and which latches the closure member in a slidable position when the closure member is pivoted to its latched position. The pivot shoes are connected together by a multiple segment shaft in the assembly and unique rack and pinion structure is incorporated in the assembly.
Abstract:
An improved storage cabinet is provided which is particularly suitable for the safe storage of flammable materials. An embodiment of the cabinet includes two side-by-side doors which close toward each other. Each door is self-closing, being biased in a closed position by a spring. For convenience, each door can be retained in an open position by a chain. The chain includes a fusible link which melts in the presence of a dangerous level of heat, allowing the associated door to close. In order to protect the interior, the doors have overlapping edges. Accordingly, the cabinet has a closing synchronization mechanism which causes the dual doors to close in a predetermined order. Sequential closing is necessary to effect a proper overlapping of door edges, providing a heat shield. Furthermore, the doors are self-latching, as one door has an independent, three-point latching arrangement which engages the cabinet housing at the top and bottom as well as the first-closed door.
Abstract:
Modular, powered closure apparatus for installation as a unit into an opening of a building. The apparatus includes a rigid framework to be secured to the building and closure panels, one of which is affixed to the framework and the other of which is slidable in the framework. The framework includes a housing which accommodates an electric motor and transmission means extending between the motor and second closure panel to selectively move the second closure panel between open and closed positions.
Abstract:
An elevator car has a drive mechanism mounted in a compact housing on the upper surface of the car. The drive mechanism includes a rotatable drive shaft, around which is mounted a linear actuator block having a plurality of ball bearings, obliquely arranged relative to the shaft, and firmly touching the shaft. Rotation of the shaft by a motor makes the block move linearly along the shaft. A bracket attached to the block carries an elevator door. Rotation of the shaft therefore opens and closes the door. The direction of movement of the block, and hence the door, depends on the direction of rotation of the shaft. The drive mechanism is compact and simple, and can be applied to new elevators or can be used to retrofit existing elevator cars.
Abstract:
A cable window winder, particularly for installation in motor vehicles, which has at least one guide rail with a slide element guided therein and connectable with the window pane, at least one holding angle (3) connected to the guide rail and supporting at least one guide pulley (31), as well as fastening means (32) for fitting the cable window winder. According to the invention one of the fastening means (32) is mounted in the rotary axis of the guide pulley (31) and is connected directly to the metal vehicle plate.
Abstract:
A jail-cell door is suspended from an overhead carriage, for horizontal displacement between closed and open positions, and an elongate slide bar has a horizontal lost-motion connection to the carriage. The slide bar mounts a reversible electric motor and is continuously engaged to the driven one of two rollers from which the carriage and its cell door are suspended; the shaft for the other suspension roller is journaled in the carriage. For driving the cell door in the door-opening direction, the outer lost-motion limit determines an expanded wheelbase of door suspension, and for driving the cell door in the door-closing direction, the inner lost-motion limit determines a slightly reduced wheelbase of door suspension. The slide bar carries cam formations at or near its respective ends for determining locking-bolt action only at the fully closed and fully open positions of the door, and a deadlock device is pivotally carried at one end of the slide bar, serving the door-closed condition. Assurance against bodily harm upon door closing is inherent in the design of drive-roller engagement to the rail on which both rollers travel, the engagement being to provide drive-roller slip at a predetermined threshold of tractive force.
Abstract:
A closure assembly for preventing transmission of interference fields, especially high-frequency magnetic fields. The assembly comprises a closure which is disposed to be movable with respect to a fixed structure, with the closure and/or the fixed structure being provided with elements for establishing contact and thereby preventing transmission of interference fields between the two. In accordance with the present invention, the closure is disposed to move substantially rectilinearly in a direction substantially perpendicular to a plane along a surface of the closure, and substantially rectilinearly in a direction substantially parallel to the plane of the closure.
Abstract:
A door device for furniture, which has a plurality of door members provided laterally in opposition to each other in a front opening of a furniture body, longitudinal sliders capable of moving the door members in the longitudinal direction with respect to the furniture body, and a lateral slider capable of moving the door members in the lateral direction with respect to the furniture body, the front opening being opened by sliding one of the door members forward and then sideways to superpose the door member on the front surface of the adjacent door member, a plurality of support rails fixed to the portions of the furniture body which correspond to the door members, and a support roller which is adapted to engage a support rail on the side of the door member adjacent to the door member to be opened, when the lateral slider is extended to more than a predetermined extent during the lateral sliding of the door member to be opened to cause the lateral slider to be inclined slightly due to the load of the same door member, provided on the lateral movable rail so that the support rollers can be rotated freely.
Abstract:
A reversible window is disclosed, which can be reversed by rotation in such a manner that the outer side of the window comes to the inner side thereof, and in which a reverse rotation shaft (17), attached near the central portion of the upper surface of an upper window frame (12) of a window (1), is disposed so as to be slidable, and at the time of the 90-degree opening of the window (1), the window (1) can be moved up to the extreme end of its outer frame.
Abstract:
A pair of abutment arms are provided including first and second pairs of corresponding ends. The first pair of corresponding ends are provided with resilient members and the second pair of corresponding ends include transverse splined sleeve and shank portions which are removably axially slidably engageable with each other in predetermined adjusted relative angular positions of the arms. The door stop further includes a hinge pin extending axially of and supported from one of the second pair of corresponding ends of the arms for telescopic reception within the series of axially aligned interdigitated hinge barrels provided on conventional hinges. With the abutment-equipped arms thus mounted relative to the hinge barrels of a hinge, one of the abutment-equipped first pair of ends of the arms may be positioned to engage an adjacent wall surface while the other abutment-equipped arm end of the first pair of corresponding arm ends may be positioned to engage the associated door to limit opening of the latter relative to the aforementioned wall surface.
