摘要： A steel tie for incorporation in rail track has a horizontal rectangular plate for connection transversely of the rail to restrain vertical rail movement. The longer sides of the horizontal plate terminate in downwardly and outwardly inclined margin portions for capturing ballast. A web member extends vertically on the underside of the plate member and parallel to and centrally of the longer sides of the plate and serves to restrain longitudinal rail movement. Curved ballast engaging plate members are connected on the underside of the tie to provide lateral stability. The plate members are detachable and replaceable with smaller or larger members to provide a smaller or greater ballast engaging area. The lower edge of the vertical web has a thickened portion to carry stresses. Rail fastening devices consist of a pair of opposing longitudinally extending shoulders adapted to accommodate the rail flange between them. Each shoulder has a downwardly facing abutment surface, and a resilient rail clip has an intermediate portion that bears upwardly on the abutment surface, an end portion that extends inwardly from the abutment surface and bears resiliently on the upper side of the rail flange.

摘要： A rail support comprises a ribbed plate having smaller and greater sides and predetermined width and length, the width of the ribbed plate being measured in a direction transverse to the direction of elongation of rails to be supported while the length of the ribbed plate being measured in the direction of elongation of the rails, the width of the ribbed plate being greater than the length of the same, the ribbed plate being provided with openings for passage of connecting elements for connecting the ribbed plate to a foundation, a substantially flat rubber body arranged under the ribbed plate so as to support the latter and having smaller and greater sides and width and length, the length of the rubber body corresponding to the length of the ribbed plate while the width of the rubber body being greater than the width of the ribbed plate so that the rubber body at its small sides extend outwardly beyond the ribbed plate at the small sides of the latter, a shell-shaped frame enclosing the rubber body at its all sides and enclosing the ribbed plate at its greater sides and having a bottom, the rubber body and the bottom of the frame being provided with openings corresponding to the openings of the ribbed plate.

摘要： A railroad plate and connectable shim is disclosed for fastening railroad tracks over ground having a flat or raised topography in an economically feasible manner. The instant system provides a base plate with a sloping grooved channel for reception of the lower flange of a rail to be held in place in combination with a trapezoidal shim to insure the proper cant of the rail over the various topographical areas of the country. The instant base plate, trapezoidal shim, rail and railroad tie are all fastened via a set of screws which are angled towards the center of gravity of the rail.

摘要： A gap-filling, adhesive composition is provided which is used between polymeric tie plates and the dapped area of a wood, concrete or polyethylene cross tie. This composition contains 65 to 75 wt. % of an asphalt having a softening point in the range of 75.degree. C. to 100.degree. C., 10 to 20 wt. % of a styrene butadiene copolymer having a molecular weigh of 60,000 to 91,000, and 7 to 25 wt. % of a processing oil having a viscosity in the range of 427 poises at 37.78.degree. C. to around 2,500 poises at 37.78.degree. C. and having a flash point in the range of 210.degree. C. to around 250.degree. C. The composition has a viscosity in the range of about 100 to around 300 poises at 150.degree. C.

摘要： A pad for use in a rail mounting assembly to dampen the rail vibration while providing electrical insulation between a rail and a tie, particularly where positive retention of the pad against lateral slippage is accomplished independently of the means used to secure the rail to the tie. Retention against lateral slippage is provided by disposing embossments on the pad which mate into socket recesses in the tie. Wear, permanent set, and cracking are alleviated by disposing apertures through the embossments to interrupt the lateral propagation of the strain wave caused by compressive stress imposed on the rail mounting assembly from rolling train wheels. Dampening of rail vibration is supplemented by cooperatively configuring the embossments and the socket recesses to develop desired spring forces upon compression of the pad.
