摘要: An optical viewing system includes first, second and third image modifying devices together with an adaptor assembly for connecting the image modifying devices together. The adaptor assembly has first and second clamping portions. The first clamping portion is connected to the first and second image modifying devices and the second clamping portion is connected to the first clamping portion and to the first and third image modifying device so that the first image modifying device is clamped between the second and third image modifying devices. At least one of the first and second clamping portions are removably connected to the first image modifying device so that the first image modifying device can be removed from the adaptor assembly and operate as a further independent optical viewing system. Different combinations of image modifying devices can be arranged with one or more of the clamping portions.

摘要: An arrangement, equipped with a holder 9, which supports a solid immersion lens 3 in the gravity direction with the bottom surface of solid immersion lens 3 being protruded downward through an opening 9b, is provided. With this arrangement, when solid immersion lens 3 is set on an observed object, solid immersion lens 3 is put in a state in which it is raised by the observed object and is made free with respect to holder 9. Also in this state, an excessive pressure will not be applied to the observed object and yet solid immersion lens 3 is put in close contact in conformance with the observed object and temperature drifts at the holder 9 side or the observed object side are cut off from the counterpart side and thus the influences of such temperature drifts are eliminated. A solid immersion lens holder, with which the damaging of the observed object can be eliminated and which enables high-precision observation, is thus provided.

摘要: An interchangeable lens is disclosed which prevents the camera body and interchangeable lens from being damaged even if an attempt is made to erroneously mount therebetween. The interchangeable lens is a second interchangeable lens whose flange back is the same as that of a first interchangeable lens and includes a protruding portion protruding from a mount reference surface. The protruding amount of the protruding portion is set when the second interchangeable lens has a specific phase relationship with a first camera, so that the protruding portion contacts a first wall portion of the first camera, and is set when the second interchangeable lens has a phase relationship with the first camera other than the specific phase relationship and a bayonet lug of the second interchangeable lens contacts a bayonet lug of the first camera, so that the protruding portion is away from the first wall portion.

摘要: An optical system for use in a microscope and other optical systems has an unlimited depth of focus. The optical system comprises a lens set comprising a first optical element and a second optical element; mechanisms for continuously oscillating the focal length of the lens set in stepwise increments; and mechanisms for permitting light to pass through the lens set when the focal length is momentarily fixed and for preventing light to pass through the lens set when the focal length is not momentarily fixed. The rapid (i.e., greater than about 16 images a second) and sequential replacement of images in a plane parallel to and at a fixed distance will provide an unlimited depth of focus to elicit in the observer a sense of sharp focus of the entire observed object.

摘要: An auxiliary lens attachment (22) for an optical device (10) is removably positioned between an eyepiece (12) and an objective lens (19). The auxiliary attachment (22) includes a cylindrical prescription lens (30) which corrects an astigmatism in the eye of the user. The auxiliary lens attachment (22) is rotated with the eyepiece (12) relative to the objective lens (19) for positioning the auxiliary attachment (22) at a precise rotational position relative to objection lens (19) for correction of the astigmatism.

摘要: A coupling device and associated method for coupling an unassociated afocal optical assembly to a night vision apparatus in order to alter the optical power normally associated with the night vision. The coupling device includes two separate adapter rings that threadably connect to each other. The first adaptor ring is sized and shaped to threadably engage the night vision apparatus proximate the objective lens of the night vision apparatus. The second adaptor ring is sized and shaped to screw onto the output end of the afocal optical assembly. Accordingly, when the first adaptor ring is joined to the second adaptor ring, the output end of the afocal optical assembly is optically aligned with the objective lens of the night vision apparatus. Consequently, the afocal optical assembly enhances the optical power associated with the night vision apparatus.
