Abstract:
The present invention relates to human milk fortifiers comprising high protein content and long chain poly-unsaturated fatty acids. Use of such human milk fortifier improves the body adipose tissue distribution by increasing the subcutaneous adipose tissue mass, while at the same time not increasing visceral adipose tissue.
Abstract:
A piece of footwear is equipped with one or more spare cleat fasteners adapted to receive one or more spare cleats on a upper of the footwear and a plurality of cleat fasteners adapted to receive a plurality of cleats on a sole of the footwear. In one implementation, the spare cleat fasteners are apertures adapted to receive the spare cleats. When a user of the footwear discovers that one or more cleats on the sole of the footwear are worn, broken, or missing, the user may replace the worn, broken, or missing cleats with spare cleats located in the spare cleat fasteners on the upper of the footwear.
Abstract:
A pad of elastomeric material having a softness of no more than about durometer 50 Shore 00. The pad may carry adhesive and/or a housing for adhering the pad to a surface, either directly or indirectly through an envelope which surrounds the pad and carries the adhesive. Such a pad exhibits hemostatic and leak prevention properties against needle puncture holes in the skin or the wall of a hollow medical device. Particularly, hemostasis may be prevented with low pressure application of the pad to the skin. The pad may be previously applied to the skin of the patient or a wall of a medical device such as tubing or a solution bag, and the needle may then penetrate both the pad and the skin or medical device wall, to make a resealable puncture with leakage reduction and hemostasis when the needle is withdrawn.
Abstract:
The electric machine comprises a rotor and stator, the rotor and stator having generally equal axial lengths. The stator has at least one primary and at least one control winding disposed around the stator. The electric machine comprises a stator extension of a magnetic material. The stator extension is disposed coaxially with the stator and has only the at least one control winding wrapped therearound. The stator extension extends axially adjacent the stator beyond an axial terminus of the rotor and defines a magnetic circuit around the at least one control winding. The stator extension is configured such that in use, the magnetic circuit remains unsaturated thereby increasing inductance of at least one control winding in an electric alternator/motor.
Abstract:
A flow restrictor member having a means for conditioning the flow of fluids through a circular aperture, a means for positioning the flow restrictor member within a path for fluid flow, a means for aligning the flow restrictor member within the path for fluid flow, a means for sealing the flow restrictor member within the path for fluid flow, and a means for communicating information related to the flow restrictor member while the flow restrictor member is positioned, aligned, and sealed. In a specific example, a two-faced flange is integrally disposed on a torus-wedge flow restriction, forming hubs that are receivable by a flow path disposed in a pair of receiving flanges.
Abstract:
A system stores a first permission parameter associated with a first user of a set of digital video recorders (DVRs) and at least a second permission parameter associated with a second user of the set. The second permission parameter defines a different level of permission for controlling the set than the first permission parameter. At least one server receives a first request to control the set from the first user and a second request to control the set from the second user. The set is controlled in accordance with: (i) the first request, based on the first permission parameter, and (ii) the second request, based on the second permission parameter. The controlling includes at least communicating with the set over a network. Techniques are also provided for directly obtaining information on a DVR in real time over a content network
Abstract:
Antigenic peptides that bind to MHC Class II molecules with the shared epitope referred to as HLA-DR molecules are disclosed. More specifically, are citrullinated antigenic peptides having an increased affinity for HLA-DR molecules and associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis. These novel peptides provide the basis for new methods of diagnosis and treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Abstract:
A flow meter for measuring the volume of fluid flowing through the meter includes an inner cylindrical tube through which the fluid flows and an outer cylindrical tube tending over the inner cylindrical tube. The outer cylindrical tube is radially spaced from the cylindrical inner tube to provide an annular cylindrical space between the inner cylindrical tube and the outer cylindrical tube. A seal between the inner cylindrical tube and the outer cylindrical tube closes the annular cylindrical space adjacent ends of the annular cylindrical space. The inner cylindrical tube further defines at least one opening in a wall of the inner cylindrical tube to balance the fluid pressure in the annular cylindrical space with the pressure in the inner cylindrical tube. A torus wedge flow restriction member is integrally formed within full internal circumference the inner cylindrical tube for restricting the flow of fluid through the inner cylindrical tube and produces a pressure drop in the fluid as it flows past the flow restriction member. The inner cylindrical tube and the outer cylindrical tube in combination further define at least one port for receiving a pressure sensing device to measure the pressure of the fluid flowing through the flow meter.
Abstract:
A medical tubing set sheath is provided which includes a retention portion for attaching the sheath to a collar of a connector attached to the medical tubing set. The sheath may serve as a handle to facilitate torque-locking of the connector to another connector. The sheath may also include a ratcheting mechanism in order to allow for the sheath to ratchet upon application of excess torque, when the tubing set is being attached to a peripheral tubing set. The sheath may also include a needle receiving portion, so that the sheath provides for a needle protector, which may be retained in a position displaced from the needle in order to insure that the needle is exposed when removed from its packaging, and can be quickly and easily inserted in a patient's arm.
Abstract:
In various embodiments, a pigment composition is provided comprising a base particle and a dispersing agent, the dispersing agent comprising a salt and/or ester of: (i) an amine, alcohol, and/or alkanol amine to the polyprotic acid is greater than 3:1. In various embodiments, the pigments have improved stability, hiding power, tint strength, and/or gloss.
