摘要: A smart intravenous catheter (IVC) assembly includes a stabilization platform configured to hold an IVC in a fixed position relative to tissue of a patient, and a sensor module mechanically supported by the stabilization platform. The sensor module includes at least one sensor configured to sense a physical characteristic of the tissue of the patient and produce sensed data representing the physical characteristic of tissue of the patient, and a transceiver configured to transmit the sensed data to a smart device remote from the stabilization platform.

摘要: A safety catheter assembly that may be a closed system catheter (CSC) has a seal member proximal a septum in the catheter hub. In a first embodiment, the seal member may be a cylindrical sleeve whereto a locking portion of a needle clip is positioned to fixedly hold the needle clip inside the catheter hub in a ready state. In a second embodiment, the needle clip is housed in a substantially cylindrical seal member. The seal member with the needle clip therein and the catheter hub are fixedly coupled together in the ready state. In a third embodiment, a retainer member at the catheter hub couples the needle clip to the catheter hub in the ready state and the seal member is distal the retainer member. In all the embodiments, the seal member may act as a reservoir for fluid in the interior cavity of the catheter hub that may back flow past the septum.

摘要: The present disclosure is a blood collection assembly that has a needle assembly fixedly coupled to a finger-activated actuator and tubing and the needle assembly has a needle. Further, the blood collection assembly has a hub that houses the needle assembly and the hub has a channel in a top surface of the hub. Additionally, the channel slidably engages the finger-activated actuator such that when the finger-activated actuator is moved from a distal end of the hub to a proximal end of the hub the needle retracts within the hub.

摘要: An IV catheter system may have a catheter component and a needle component. The catheter component may have a catheter hub, a cannula extending distally from the catheter hub, and a push feature extending outward from the catheter hub. The push feature may have an outer surface that receives contact from a digit to move the IV catheter system from an insertion configuration, in which the needle is within the cannula, to a fluid delivery configuration, in which the needle is outside the catheter hub. The needle component may have a needle hub and a needle extending distally from the needle hub along an axis. The push feature may be formed of a flexible material that causes the push feature, in response to pressure exerted on the outer surface by a dressing securing the catheter component to a patient, to deflect the outer surface toward the cannula axis.

摘要: The present invention generally provides a device for inserting needles and alleviating the discomfort associated with needle insertion. In certain embodiments, the device is suited for injecting butterfly needles and particularly butterfly needles that are attached to infusion tubing. The patient or caregiver loads a butterfly needle with tubing attached into the base of the drive plunger. The needle with tubing attached is retracted into the housing of the device by retracting the inner plunger. Once retracted, the device is activated and ready to administer a needle into the tissue of a patient. The device is then placed on the location of the skin where injection is desired. The surface that contacts the skin may be textured and may include a contact switch that causes the device to vibrate when slight pressure is applied through contact with the skin. Two trigger buttons in the housing of the device may be depressed to eject the needle at an angle essentially perpendicular to the surface of the skin into the tissue of the patient concurrently with the textured pads contacting the skin and vibrating, distracting the patient from the needle insertion. The inner plunger of the device is then depressed toward the surface of the skin to release the needle from the device. The wings and body of the butterfly may be secured to the skin, for example, with an adhesive such as tape.

摘要: A method of using an integrated catheter assembly includes a housing member, an outer lumen member extending from the housing member, and a needle member slidably or movably coupled to the housing member, wherein the needle member can be extended beyond a first port of the outer lumen member in a first position and concealed in the outer lumen member in a second position. The outer lumen member has a side port between its first and second ports such that when the needle is extended in the first position and inserted into an arteriovenous fistula, blood from the arteriovenous fistula flashes into the needle member, is diverted through a relief port of the needle member out the side port of the outer lumen member for delivery to a dialysis machine. The assembly further includes an inner lumen member that is disposable through the housing member to extend out from the same the outer lumen member to provide dialyzed blood from the machine. The assembly therefore receives and delivers blood through a single injection site.

摘要: Intravascular delivery system is designed for a safe and efficient access to secondary and tertiary vascular structures, such as the branches of the coronary sinus, to enhance the delivery and deployment of various catheters, such as, for example, pacemaker electrical leads. The over-the-wire system features a straight, or alternatively shaped, micro-catheter distal tip of an inner catheter that seamlessly cooperates with a peel-away reinforced outer catheter. The inner catheter and the peel-away reinforced outer catheter are advanced in their engaged mode of operation towards (or beyond) the target site. Subsequently, the inner and outer catheters are disengaged, and the inner catheter is removed from the outer catheter. A pacemaker lead may be advanced over the wire inside the outer catheter to the target site for deployment. Subsequently, the outer catheter is easily split and may be rapidly removed from the blood vessel.

摘要: An IV access device can include a needle hub that incorporates a flash chamber. The flash chamber can be used to provide visual confirmation of proper catheter placement within a vein. The flash chamber can include a path-defining structure to facilitate identifying whether blood is continually flowing into the flash chamber. The flash chamber may also be removable from the needle hub. In some cases, the needle hub may include a paddle grip that facilitates insertion of the catheter and separation of the needle hub from the catheter adapter.

摘要: Intravenous access is achieved by introducing a catheter having a guidewire safety tip at its distal end. The safety tip can be advanced and retracted using a slider disposed over an access needle which is initially present in the catheter. After the catheter has been properly positioned, the access needle and guidewire may be removed so that the catheter is available for use.
