Abstract: A provider system is connected to readers disposed at distances from the provider system. A secure local connection is established between the client device and the provider system via one of the readers. Before the client reaches an access touchpoint, the provider system receives from the client device a request for client access, the provider system sends to the client device a request for identification information of the client, and the client device sends client information associated with a first mobile identification credential (MIC) which the client device received from an authorizing party system (APS), the client having consented to release the client information to the provider system, and the client information having been verified. The provider system performs a liveness check of the client using live-captured biometric information at the access touchpoint, determines whether the liveness check is valid, and grants the request if the liveness check is valid.

Abstract: In an example, a thermal imaging test article comprises a block configured to be attached to a blackbody on a back side of the block, the block having a variable thickness to represent facial features of a human face, the block including a cutout to allow a thermal imaging device to see the blackbody behind the block through the cutout, and one or more heaters thermally coupled to the block to produce heat to heat the block. The variable thickness of the block and the heat produced by the one or more heaters are selected to simulate thermally the human face on a front side of the block.

Abstract: A vertical escape structure comprises an escape housing disposed in a vertical orientation and mounted to a ground to maintain structural integrity in the vertical orientation against external flooding. The escape housing includes an interior which is sealed against water entry from exterior flooding and at least one of a staircase, a ladder, an elevator, or a lift disposed in the interior of the escape housing. The vertical escape structure further comprises a connecting walkway to connect the escape housing to a building. The escape housing has a smaller horizontal footprint than the building. The walkway is severable from the building by force without damaging the escape housing to cause water entry from the exterior flooding.

Abstract: A bag unlocking method includes receiving, by a bag handling system, a bag during a check-in process. Abstract: An example method to characterize an anomaly includes obtaining information about an item using a first mode scan and detecting whether the item contains an anomaly based on the information. The method further includes determining, responsive to detecting the anomaly, an area of interest of the item corresponding to a location of the anomaly, and determining a strategy including a procedure to obtain other information of the area of interest. The method refines a characterization of the anomaly based on the other information, and compares the characterization of the anomaly to a predetermined criterion. The method iteratively revises the strategy to perform additional available procedures, to further refine the characterization of the anomaly. When the characterization of the anomaly meets the predetermined criterion corresponding to a prohibited item, the method identifies the anomaly as prohibited.
