摘要： A purpose of the present invention is to provide an image processing apparatus and an image processing method capable of independently converting the frequency characteristics of particular hue components in a color image.In an image processing apparatus for converting the frequency characteristics of first color data representing a color image and outputting second color data corresponding to the first color data, an image processing apparatus according to the present invention has a hue region data calculation means for using the first color data to calculate first hue region data valid for a plurality of particular hue components in the color image represented by the first color data, a frequency characteristic conversion means for converting the frequency characteristics of the first hue region data independently for each of the hue components and thereby outputting second hue region data, and means for calculating the second color data by using the second hue region data.

摘要： A block noise reducer detects block boundaries in all components of an input video signal and smoothes the different components selectively on the basis of the detected block boundaries and their periodic locations. By removing block noise on the basis of block boundaries detected in color difference signals, the block noise reducer removes block noise from scenes with gradual changes in color but little or no change in luminance.

摘要： In an image displaying apparatus, first and second detecting units detect quantities of light propagating through a light path at two different locations. A variation calculating unit calculates the variation in the light quantity in the light path based on the quantities of light detected by each of the first and second detecting units. A controlling unit controls the quantity of light propagated to the screen if the variation in the light quantity exceeds a predetermined value.

摘要： A field sequential color display is obtained by successive display of a sequence of monochrome images of different colors. Monochrome images in at least one of the colors are displayed with light of two different brightness levels, the light of the lower brightness being used to display comparatively low gray levels, the light of both the lower and higher brightness levels being used to display comparatively high gray levels. This scheme provides extra resolution at the low end of the gray scale, and increases the number of displayable gray levels by counteracting the loss of gray levels that occurs due to gamma correction.

The image processor determines when to display a parking assist image to reveal an area hidden as a blind spot of the camera when the recognized object is in the blind spot of the camera and displays the parking assist image combining both current image data and the recorded image data for the area currently hidden as the blind spot of the camera, together with an indicator indicating the current position of the vehicle superimposed on the display.

摘要： A navigation apparatus includes a controller, an image data input unit adapted to acquire image data from a camera installed in a vehicle, and an image memory for storing the image data. The navigation apparatus also includes an image processing unit converting data extracted from the acquired image data to data simulating a virtual viewpoint. The image processing unit stores the converted data in the image memory in associated with position data indicating the position at which the image was taken by the camera. Using a plurality of sets of converted data, the image processing unit generates bird's eye view data representing a bird's-eye image of an area nearby the current vehicle position. When the controller determines that parking operation is stopped, the image processing unit displays the bird's eye view image together with a mark indicating the current vehicle position.

The color converter comprises a calculation term generator for receiving the first image data, and outputting calculation terms which are effective just for the specific hues; and a matrix calculator performing matrix calculation using the calculation terms effective just for the specific hues. The user can adjust just the hue of the desired color. Real-time processing of moving pictures can be achieved without placing a heavy load on a CPU. The image after the adjustment can be displayed on a real-time basis.

A black-approximated data calculating means calculates, based on the black-display characteristic specifying data, a black-approximated data related to at least one of luminance, chromaticity and tristimulus values in displaying black with the image display means. On receipt of an image data and the black-approximated data, a black correction means calculates a black-corrected image data, and displays an image on the image display means based on the black-corrected image data.
